Viking Divers

Viking Divers has been a fixture of the Larnaca diving scene since 1993. Located just 10km from Larnaca International Airport and situated right by the seaside, the centre provides a reliable base for exploring the Mediterranean's most famous underwater sites.

As a PADI 5 Star dive centre, the operation focuses on safety and professional standards. Whether you are looking for a structured course or a guided drift dive, the centre is geared towards both recreational divers and those moving into technical territory.

The team consists of PADI certified instructors dedicated to safe and enjoyable diving. They offer instruction in several languages, ensuring that technical details and safety briefings are clearly understood by a diverse range of divers.

For those staying in the surrounding area, the centre works with various local hotels and provides shuttle services. This makes coordinating your logistics between your accommodation and the dive base straightforward.

The training programme is extensive, covering the full PADI spectrum from Discover Scuba Diving and Open Water Diver through to Divemaster and Instructor courses. Specialized training includes Peak Performance Buoyancy, Underwater Navigator, and Enriched Air Diver.

For technical divers, the centre offers a robust TecRec curriculum. This includes courses such as Tec 40, Tec 45, Tec 50, Tec Deep, and Tec Sidemount, allowing you to progress well beyond recreational limits.

The centre operates two main vessels to reach different dive profiles. The Viking 1 is a RIB used for boat safaris to more distant sites, such as the Cricket wreck and the pirate caves.

The Nereis is a traditional Cypriot boat powered by twin 330 hp engines, used for daily trips. On board, you will find cold water, tea, coffee, biscuits, and sandwiches, along with toilet facilities for your convenience.

The centre provides a dedicated space for storing your personal equipment and features changing rooms for use between dives. A standard equipment check and maintenance service is available for clients.

Nitrox is available on-site for divers looking to extend their bottom times. All rental and service equipment is kept up to date according to required service intervals.

The wrecks and reefs are home to a variety of large pelagics and resident species. You can often spot Great barracuda (Sphyraena barracuda), Tuna (Thunnus), and Amberjack (Seriola) patrolling the structures, alongside resident turtles and Loggerhead sea turtles (Caretta caretta).

In the rocky areas and near the wrecks, you will find plenty of groupers (Epinephelus), various species of seabream (Sparidae), and Moray eel (Muraenidae). Lionfish (Pterois volitans) and much more can be found amongst the crevices.

For those interested in macro life, the seabed offers plenty to see. Look out for Nudibranch (Chromodoris willani), Seahorse (Hippocampus kuda), and various species of octopus (Octopus vulgaris).

The best time to dive in this region is from June to September. During these months, the Mediterranean environment is at its most stable for boat excursions.

While the centre offers various types of diving, including night dives and drift dives, you should always check the specific conditions for your chosen site, as some areas are best accessed via specific safari modes.
