The latter combines a super-king-size bed with a sofa bed, making it the sensible option when you need room for another person and do not want to play luggage Tetris before breakfast. Couples can instead look towards the sea-view rooms, where the balcony brings the Aegean and the mountains of Kos into the room's daily rhythm.

Every room and studio has air conditioning, an LCD television, a fridge and a private bathroom with shower and hairdryer. The fridge earns its place after a hot day outdoors: cold water waiting in the room is a small thing, until you need it. Some units also have a properly equipped kitchenette with a dining table, electric kettle and refrigerator, which gives you more flexibility between meals.

Soundproofing is included, along with a wardrobe or closet and outdoor furniture on the balcony or terrace. The rooms are non-smoking, and daily housekeeping keeps the practical side of the stay under control. That gives the more energetic member of a travelling pair something to do while the other claims a lounger and conducts a serious review of the horizon. The surrounding area also gives you room for low-key exploring, with Kefalos Castle and Mylotopi within reach for a change from water and pool.

Families have a playground and outdoor play equipment, as well as a children's pool. For a couple, the appeal is simpler: swim, dry off, find a shaded seat and decide whether the evening requires a walk into Kefalos or merely another drink. Both are respectable holiday decisions.
