The sea is not a view reserved for the occasional balcony glance. The villa faces it, with direct access to the promenade, a sun terrace and sea views across the bay. It was originally built as a 1970s summer residence and later renovated into an airy year-round home with modern amenities.

English, Danish and Italian are spoken by the host team. That matters when arrival arrangements, diving plans and the odd practical question need sorting without a game of international charades.

You can walk from the villa to the enclosed swimming area at Qawra Point in around three minutes, while Qawra Point Beach is roughly half a mile away. The promenade puts the sea, swimming and evening walks straight into your daily routine.

Malta National Aquarium is about 0.3 miles away, with Cafe del Mar close by. Restaurants are also within a short walk, including Chillis, Tal-Kaptan and Cheeky Monkey Gastropub. For a drink, Tourist Bar, Alex Bar and Rose in Crown Pub Qawra are nearby.

A bus stop is about a minute away on foot, and the main bus terminus is around six minutes away. From there, you have direct routes towards the Gozo ferry terminal, Sliema, Valletta and Mdina. Malta International Airport is about 9 miles away by road.

You are booking a whole beachfront villa, not simply a room with somewhere to leave your sandals. Upper floors are reached by stairs only, which is worth bearing in mind when bags have accumulated the usual quantity of dive-related clutter.

The practical details suit a diving week. Air conditioning is available, and ceiling fans are fitted in the bedrooms; the villa also has heating. There is a refrigerator, a washing machine, a dishwasher and drying facilities, so wet swimwear and salty clothes do not need to turn the living room into an improvised laundry department. A mosquito net, outdoor furniture and several terraces add to the usefulness of the space, with the sea-facing setting doing the decorative work without assistance.

This is a self-catering base rather than a hotel built around dining rooms. The kitchen gives you a stovetop, oven, microwave, refrigerator, dishwasher and kitchenware, along with a coffee machine, kettle and toaster. After a morning in the water, that means breakfast can happen at your own pace, and dinner does not have to wait for a timetable.

There is an outdoor dining area and a barbecue, so the terrace can take over for an evening meal when you would rather stay close to the sea. A packed lunch is also available, a useful detail for days when the boat schedule or a long excursion makes a sit-down meal an optimistic theory.

When cooking feels like too much work, Chillis is a short walk away, with Tal-Kaptan and Cheeky Monkey Gastropub also close by. The villa itself has no restaurant or bar listed, which is less of a problem here than it would be in an isolated resort: you have a kitchen, a barbecue and local places within walking distance.

The main non-diving activity is the waterfront itself. You can walk straight out to the seafront promenade, reach the Qawra Point swimming area in around three minutes and use the shoreline for swimming or snorkelling. The villa's sun terrace, patio, balcony and outdoor dining areas give you several places to dry off, read or simply watch the bay doing what bays generally do.

For a change of scenery, Malta National Aquarium is about 0.3 miles away, and the promenade leads towards Cafe del Mar for an evening outing. Birdlife Sanctuary Center is around 2.5 miles away, while Ghadira Nature Reserve is roughly 4.4 miles away. Valletta's Upper Barrakka Gardens and the National Museum of Archaeology are about 6 miles away by road, giving non-diving companions something more substantial than another discussion about cylinders.

The villa also works for families. Children of all ages are welcome, a cot can be requested for younger children, and the open living and outdoor spaces make group time easier than it is in separate hotel rooms. Snorkelling and diving are available as activities in the area, while the kitchen and terraces keep the rest of the day pleasantly unstructured.

Check-in runs from 15:00 to 23:30 and check-out from 07:00 to 10:00. You need to give the property your expected arrival time in advance so that key delivery can be arranged. A refundable damage deposit is collected on arrival and returned after the property has been inspected at check-out.

The villa has free public street parking on site, with no reservation required. An airport shuttle is available through the property.
