Galapagos Blue Evolution

Galapagos Blue Evolution has been operating out of San Cristóbal since 2005, providing a reliable base for divers exploring the unique marine ecosystems of the Galápagos Islands. The centre is situated in Puerto Baquerizo Moreno, making it a central point for those looking to access the archipelago's most famous dive sites.

The centre focuses on delivering professional PADI-standard diving, whether you are here for a single day of exploration or to pursue a professional career. With nearly 20 years of local experience, the team understands the specific requirements of diving in these waters.

The team is composed of PADI-certified instructors and Divemasters who lead all excursions. They maintain a strict ratio of two divers per guide, ensuring close supervision and safety during every dive.

Instruction is conducted in both English and Spanish. Beyond recreational diving, the centre is actively involved in the local community through internship programmes designed for local youth, fostering the next generation of Galápagos divers.

The centre offers a comprehensive range of PADI courses to suit every level of experience. Beginners can start with the Discover Scuba Diving programme or progress through the PADI Open Water Diver and PADI Advanced Open Water Diver courses.

For those looking to enhance their safety and technical skills, the PADI Rescue Diver and PADI Emergency First Response courses are available. Professional divers can also undertake the PADI Divemaster Course at the centre.

Full rental kit is available for those not travelling with their own equipment. This includes wetsuits, BCDs, regulators, fins, masks, and weight belts. For those needing extra comfort, the centre can provide boots, gloves, and hoods as required.

On-site facilities include the provision of snacks, lunch, and non-alcoholic beverages for divers during their trips.

The large pelagic life is the primary draw in this region. You can expect to encounter hammerhead sharks, Galapagos sharks, blacktip reef sharks, and whitetip sharks. Manta rays and whale sharks are also present, alongside large schools of tuna and barracuda.

The reef and rock formations host a diverse array of resident species, including sea lions, sea turtles, and various species of rays. You will also see groupers, dolphins, and various reef fish throughout the different dive sites.

For those interested in macro life, the area provides excellent opportunities to find nudibranchs, seahorses, and octopuses. The crevices and caves also hold more specialised residents such as garden eels, pygmy seahorses, and various species of crabs and lobsters.

Conditions vary significantly depending on the specific site. Some locations, such as Tijeretas and Punta Pitt, offer relatively calm waters and low currents, making them accessible for a wider range of diver levels. Other sites, such as Cueva de la Bahía, are subject to moderate drift currents.

General water movement can range from calm to moderate drift, depending on whether you are diving a reef flat or a channel between volcanic formations.
