You can keep the day as simple as you like: a swim, a meal nearby, then a drink on the balcony while the island cools down. English and Spanish are spoken by the hotel team, so you can deal with the practicalities without resorting to underwater hand signals.

The address is on Calle San Blas in Golf del Sur, San Miguel de Abona, on Tenerife's southern coast. You are not staying directly on the beach, but Playa Grande is about 0.6 miles away on foot and Playa de San Blas about 0.7 miles. Playa San Miguel de Abona is roughly 0.9 miles away.

The immediate area gives you useful choices without turning every meal into a transport exercise. Country Kitchen and Arcadia are about 50 feet away, Taj Indian Tandoori is around 850 feet away, and The Bees Knees Gin Bar is only 150 feet from the property. Tenerife South Airport is about 2.7 miles away by road, while several casinos lie within roughly 9 miles.

For a change of scenery, Teide National Park is around 7 miles away by road, with a stated driving time of about 20 minutes. Golf is part of the local geography too, with a course within 2 miles of the resort.

These are apartments rather than rooms with a kettle pretending to be a kitchen. You have a proper cooking area with a refrigerator, microwave, stovetop, toaster, kitchenware and electric kettle, plus a dining table and a separate living space with seating and a sofa. That matters when you return hungry, damp and in no mood to negotiate a complicated evening menu.

For two people, the One-Bedroom Apartment keeps things practical, with a private balcony and a double bed. If you are travelling as a larger family or simply prefer more elbow room, the Two-Bedroom Apartment gives you a much broader layout and sleeps more people. Both categories are family-friendly, but there are no extra beds; a cot is available for babies on request.

Air conditioning helps with the warmer nights, while a fan is also provided. The private bathroom includes a bath or shower, towels, toiletries and a hairdryer. Add free WiFi, a flat-screen television, radio and an outdoor dining area, and you have the sort of setup that lets you dry off, eat something simple and get horizontal without leaving the apartment again.

There is a restaurant and a bar on site, although the meal plan and breakfast arrangements are not set out here. The apartment kitchens therefore do useful work: you can make breakfast at your own pace, keep drinks cold and prepare something uncomplicated when a full restaurant meal feels like unnecessary decompression.

Special-diet menus are available on request, and children's meals can be arranged. Wine and champagne are also available. For a change of scene, Country Kitchen and Arcadia are virtually on the doorstep, while Taj Indian Tandoori is within a short walk; The Bees Knees Gin Bar and Seven Islands Sports Bar give you nearby options when the evening needs a drink rather than another expedition.

The outdoor pool is the obvious post-dive landing zone, with a separate children's pool, sun loungers and parasols. The resort describes the main pool as heated, and also has a hot tub for the slower end of the afternoon. A massage service is available when your shoulders have had enough of carrying kit, luggage and the consequences of pretending that one more dive was a sensible idea.

Table tennis keeps things gently competitive without requiring a second wardrobe. Golf is available within 2 miles, while windsurfing, horse riding and bowling are activities in the surrounding area rather than on the property itself. Bicycle hire and car hire are also available, giving you a way to explore beyond the pool and the nearest bar.

For a quieter evening, the apartments provide a sofa, dining area, balcony and outdoor dining space. Board games and puzzles are available too, which is not glamorous but is often exactly right when the legs have had enough of Tenerife for one day.

Tenerife South Airport is about 2.7 miles from the resort by road. An airport shuttle is available, either privately or as a shared service, and should be arranged with the hotel. Car hire, shuttle services and bicycle hire are also available. Free public parking is nearby, with street parking and no reservation required.

The front desk operates around the clock, with concierge service, luggage storage, currency exchange and express check-in and check-out. Check-out is by 10am. The resort policy gives check-in from 2pm, while another published arrival detail starts it at 4pm, so check the applicable time for your booking before travelling; your arrival time must be supplied in advance.

The minimum check-in age is 18. Smoking is not allowed, pets are not accepted and parties or events are not permitted. Card payments are accepted, and the property has facilities for disabled guests.
