You come here for the full island-resort version of the Maldives: villas on the beach or above the lagoon, several places to eat and drink, and enough space to make a week feel properly unhurried. Couples get private terraces, beach cabanas and sunset-facing corners, while families have larger villas, a family pool and a Kids' Club for children aged 3 to 11.

The mood is polished rather than homespun, with a choice between quiet time, organised activities and a fair amount of water-based entertainment. English, French, Spanish and Italian are all represented on the resort website, so you can at least plan your stay in one of those languages before travelling; the available staff-language information does not identify the languages spoken by the hotel team.

Sun Siyam Iru Fushi suits divers who want the sea close at hand but do not want the whole holiday reduced to boats, tanks and early alarms. There is a spa, live music, island-style excursions and enough food and drink to keep the evening from becoming a hunt for the one open restaurant.

The resort sits on a private island in the Noonu Atoll, with direct access to white-sand beaches. Sun Siyam Iru Fushi Beach is about 50 metres away, close enough for a barefoot wander rather than a transport plan. The setting is beachfront and reef-based, with the Indian Ocean doing most of the heavy lifting on the view front.

Beach villas give you a private terrace and beach cabana, while the water-villa options put the ocean view at the centre of the stay. If you are travelling as a couple, a two-person beach or water villa keeps the decision simple; families and larger groups can move up to the family villas and retreats, with space for up to six or even ten guests in the largest option.

Several villas come with a private pool, including beach and water categories. That gives you a second place to cool down without turning every swim into a social occasion. The villas include air conditioning and a fan, useful after a hot day outdoors, along with a refrigerator, kettle, seating area and desk. Free WiFi covers the rooms and public areas.

La Cremeria is the practical stop for coffee and ice cream, while The Spa Cafe keeps its offer health-focused and runs throughout the day. The bars have distinct jobs. Bubble Lounge is an over-water champagne bar; Fluid sits by the family pool with snacks; No Mistake combines the beach with inventive cocktails and shisha. Reflections is reserved for adults and sunsets, Waters Edge brings jazz and live music, The Cellar handles wine tastings and private dining, and Sun Siyam Beach Club carries the afternoon towards dusk.

The two main pools create different rhythms: an adults-only infinity pool looks out towards the Indian Ocean, while the family pool sits among tropical surroundings. Sun loungers, beach chairs and umbrellas give you somewhere to dry off and read, and a hot tub is available when you want warmth without another swim. The fitness centre, sauna and yoga classes cover the more energetic interpretation of a day off.

The Spa by Thalgo at Iru Fushi is the serious reset button. Its menu combines Thalgo treatments with facials, massages, Ayurvedic therapies and Maldivian rituals, alongside Traditional Chinese Medicine such as acupuncture, moxibustion, cupping and gua sha.
