The team is led by experienced professionals, including instructor Najih, who brings over 9,000 dives and 400 certifications to the operation. This depth of experience ensures that whether you are working on basic buoyancy or more advanced skills, you are in capable hands.

The centre operates as a PADI 5 Star facility, adhering to strict international standards for training and safety. Instruction is provided in English and Dhivehi, with a particular emphasis on teaching divers to respect the marine environment by maintaining neutral buoyancy and avoiding any unnecessary contact with the reef.

The centre provides a comprehensive range of PADI training programmes. Beginners can start with Discover Scuba Diving or the Bubblemaker programme, progressing through the PADI Open Water Diver and PADI Scuba Diver courses.

For those looking to advance their skills, the curriculum includes the PADI Advanced Open Water Diver course, PADI Rescue Diver, and the Emergency First Response certification. The centre also offers PADI Scuba Tune-Up and PADI Adventure Dive sessions for divers looking to refine their techniques or experience new environments.

Excursions are conducted using a traditional dhoni, providing a local feel to your trips around the atoll. These vessels allow for easy access to the various pinnacles, cleaning stations, and channels that define the South Ari Atoll.

The centre offers full kit hire for divers who prefer not to travel with their own equipment. This includes regulators, BCDs, wetsuits, fins, and masks. For those planning night dives, torches are available to help you explore the nocturnal life of the reefs.

Environmental protection is a core part of the kit policy; for example, the use of gloves is prohibited to ensure divers do not touch or damage the coral structures during their dives.

The atoll is a haven for large pelagics and reef residents. You can regularly observe various sharks, including whitetip reef sharks, grey reef sharks, and nurse sharks, patrolling the deeper sections of the pinnacles. Large schools of fusiliers, jacks, and blue-striped snappers create dynamic movement across the reef, while eagle rays and various species of rays are frequently seen gliding through the water column.

During the months of June to November, the area becomes a focal point for manta rays, which congregate at cleaning stations like Moofushi Manta Point and Mahibadhoo Rock. Depending on the season, you may also encounter whale sharks in the vicinity of the reefs.

The reef architecture is built upon a rich tapestry of life, including a wide variety of soft corals and hard corals. You will find many different species of reef fish, such as groupers, snappers, and various species of wrasse, living amongst the sponges and gorgonians.

For those with an eye for detail, the macro life is exceptional. The crevices and overhangs are home to nudibranchs, octopus, and various crustaceans. Keep a close watch for scorpionfish, stonefish, and mantis shrimp tucked into the reef structure, as well as ghost pipefish and various species of moray eels.

Diving conditions in the South Ari Atoll vary significantly depending on the specific site. While the house reef at Hangnaameedhoo offers low currents and shallow depths, other sites like Hangnaameedhoo Pass and Olhiya Funn are known for strong, dynamic currents that require a higher level of buoyancy control.

Seasonal changes influence the activity of certain species, particularly the manta ray populations which are most prevalent during the southwest monsoon from June to November. The topography ranges from shallow reef flats to deep pinnacles and channels, providing a variety of environments for different skill levels.
