English is spoken by the hotel team, alongside German and Russian, so you can deal with the useful things without resorting to underwater hand signals at reception. Chrousso Village is a resort in Paliouri, with 78 rooms, a garden setting and enough on site to keep the evening simple once your kit, your appetite and your patience have all had their daily workout.

The mood is practical rather than boutique-small. You have a pool, two restaurants, two bars, a minimarket, evening entertainment and space for families, while couples can still retreat to a room with its own balcony or terrace. It is the sort of base that works well when you want the beach close, meals under one roof and no need to organise every hour of the day.

You are in Paliouri, in Chalkidiki, northern Greece, with direct access to a sandy beach equipped with loungers and parasols. Chrousso Beach is about 0.5 miles away, Porto Valitsa Beach is also about 0.5 miles away, and Navagos Beach sits roughly 0.9 miles from the resort. Golden Beach is about 1.5 miles away if you fancy changing your strip of sand.

Paliouri itself is about 1.5 miles away, giving you a nearby village to explore rather than leaving you entirely dependent on the resort. Porto Valitsa, with its bar, is about 0.5 miles away, while Fish Tavern Kordelas is roughly 0.7 miles away. For a longer outing, the historic site of Ancient Neapolis is about 10 miles away by road.

The setting is coastal and spread out, so a hire car can be useful for seeing more of the peninsula. Free private parking is available on site, including an electric vehicle charging station.

The room choice matters here, particularly if you are travelling with more than a mask, a pair of flip-flops and an optimistic packing list. The smaller double rooms suit two people who want a straightforward base, while the larger apartments and suites give families or dive buddies more room to spread out without turning the sleeping area into a luggage depot. The Deluxe Suite and Suite with Terrace are the sensible options when extra living space matters; the latter also has two bathrooms.

Garden views run through the accommodation, with balconies attached to the rooms and terraces available in selected categories. The larger family apartments and suites are aimed at up to three or four guests, while the Deluxe Suite can take up to five. Choose according to how much time you expect to spend indoors, not merely how impressive the room name sounds. A couple who mainly need a cool, quiet place to sleep may prefer the more compact option; a group sharing post-dive stories, wet towels and tomorrow's plans will appreciate the extra space.

Every room has air conditioning, a private bathroom, television, desk, wardrobe, towels and bed linen. Soundproof rooms and soundproofing are part of the accommodation, which is useful when the resort's evening programme is still finding its audience and you are already thinking about an early start. A refrigerator is available in the accommodation, and a drying rack helps with ordinary holiday laundry. There is also a mosquito net, a safety deposit box and free Wi-Fi throughout the resort.

The dining setup is all-inclusive, with breakfast, lunch and dinner covered at the Main Restaurant. Its buffet focuses on international dishes, and breakfast is served in buffet form with a continental selection. In other words, you can refuel without turning dinner into an expedition across Paliouri.

For an evening with a slightly different rhythm, the A la Carte Restaurant serves Mediterranean cuisine on a terrace with views. It is open for dinner and follows a smart-casual dress code, so your most battered post-dive shorts may need a night off. There are two bars: the Pool Bar serves cocktails and snacks beside the outdoor pool, while the Main Bar in the lobby is the place for a drink away from the water.

A coffee house, snack bar, fruit, children’s meals and a child-friendly buffet add useful flexibility. Room service runs around the clock, which is handy when your body wants food but your legs have voted against another walk. Wine and champagne are also available.

The main outdoor pool is large and has a swim-up bar, so you can move from sun lounger to drink without putting on proper shoes. Pool and beach towels, sun umbrellas and loungers are available, while the sandy beach gives you another place to spend the afternoon when the pool starts feeling like a very large bath.

When your shoulders need something more useful than another length of the pool, massage treatments include full-body, back, neck, head, hand and foot options. A gym with basic equipment is available, and yoga classes are also offered. The distinction is worth keeping clear: this is a place for a little recovery work, not a high-performance training camp.

There is plenty for a non-diving day as well. You can try table tennis, darts, billiards or the games room, hire a bicycle, use the tennis court and equipment, or join a themed dinner, live music, karaoke or other evening entertainment. Kayaking, paddleboarding, snorkelling and boat excursions are available on the water, while excursions to Sithonia and Mount Athos give you a reason to leave the shoreline. Families have a playground, outdoor play equipment, board games, a kids’ club and children’s meals.

Thessaloniki Airport is about 56 miles from the resort, or roughly 61 miles by road, with the drive taking around an hour and a half. An airport shuttle is available as a paid service and can be arranged with the hotel; car hire is also available. If you are driving, free private parking is on site and does not require a reservation.

Reception is open around the clock, luggage storage and concierge services are available, and there is an ATM on site. You should give the hotel your expected arrival time in advance, particularly if you are arriving late. Check-in runs into the evening and check-out is in the morning, while early arrivals can leave luggage with reception rather than conducting a tactical nap beside the car park.

Wi-Fi is free throughout the resort. Daily housekeeping, laundry and dry-cleaning services are available, along with a minimarket for the small things you forgot to pack. Cards are accepted, and cash is not accepted at the property. Children of all ages are welcome; children aged 12 and over are charged as adults, cots can be requested for children aged up to two, and extra beds are not available.
