Free Flow Freediving & First Aid Education

Free Flow is a specialised freediving and first aid school located in Lithakia, Zakynthos. Established in 2018, the centre has built a reputation for technical precision and a deep connection to the marine environment.

Rather than a standard dive centre, this is a school dedicated to the discipline of apnea and emergency response. The teaching follows the rigorous Apnea Academy standards, integrating scientific principles with practical skill development.

The school is led by Ioannis Aliazis, an instructor with extensive experience who also teaches at the Y-40 deep pool in Italy during the winter months. He provides instruction in English, ensuring clear communication for international divers.

Ioannis is qualified across several disciplines, including Apnea Academy levels, SHARE Equalisation, and KAD (Kids As Dolphins). His expertise extends beyond freediving into advanced first aid education, making the centre a hub for both breath-hold specialists and those seeking medical training.

To ensure safety and high-quality instruction, the centre maintains a strict ratio of no more than two students per instructor. This allows for close monitoring of breathing techniques, relaxation, and equalization skills.

The curriculum is centred on the Apnea Academy progression, offering Level 1, Level 2, and Level 3 courses. These programmes are designed to take you from foundational breath-hold techniques to advanced freediving mastery.

Specialised training is also available for those looking to refine specific skills, including SHARE Equalisation and dedicated Apnea Academy Equalisation modules. For those interested in teaching or specialised rescue, the centre provides Advanced First Aid training.

Individualised training weeks and all-inclusive clinics are available by reservation, allowing for intensive, one-to-one instruction tailored to your specific goals.

The waters around Zakynthos are a significant habitat for the loggerhead sea turtle (Caretta caretta). You can often encounter these large reptiles while exploring the coastal areas.

In the surrounding marine environment, you will find a variety of fish including sea bream (Sparidae), wrasse (Labridae), and yellowtail damselfish. Larger species such as grouper (Epinephelinae), snapper (Lutjanus), and barracuda (Sphyraena) are also present in the area.

Macro life and smaller inhabitants include octopus (Octopoda), scorpionfish (Scorpaenidae), and various species of shrimp (Caridea). You may also spot moray eels (Muraenidae) and different types of nudibranchs (Chromodoris willani) amongst the reef structures.

Diving is conducted from the shore, which requires a good level of physical fitness to navigate the steps and rocks used for entry and exit. The local sites involve using a descent line attached to a bottom weight to assist with depth control.
