Turtle Beach Diving Center

Located on the beach of Limni Keriou, Turtle Beach Diving Center has been a fixture of the Zakynthos diving scene since 1997. The centre is positioned just 15 km from Zakynthos city, providing a dedicated base for exploring the varied marine topography of the Ionian Sea.

The area is defined by its dramatic limestone formations, ranging from steep walls and deep canyons to expansive underwater caverns. Whether you are looking to explore the famous Blue Cave or navigate the intricate swim-throughs of the local reefs, the centre's location offers immediate access to some of the most interesting seabed features in the region.

The team consists of six instructors providing guidance across multiple certification levels. They are experienced in delivering training in English, Greek, Italian, German, and Spanish, ensuring clear communication during briefings and in-water instruction.

Instruction covers everything from initial Open Water Diver qualifications to professional-level training such as Divemaster. The centre also caters to families, with childcare services available for children from three years of age at the base or on the boat.

A comprehensive range of training is available through PADI, SSI, and CMAS affiliations. Beginners can start with the Open Water Diver course, while those looking to expand their skills can pursue the Advanced Open Water Diver, Rescue Diver, or the SSI Advanced Adventure Diver and Stress & Rescue programmes.

For divers looking to progress professionally, the centre offers Divemaster training and CMAS courses up to the Gold level. Specialized training is also provided, including the Nitrox course to extend your bottom times.

The centre operates three boats, including a 12-metre vessel designed for comfort and efficiency. While the boat is licensed for a larger capacity, it is limited to 24 divers per trip to ensure ample space for kit and movement.

On board, you will find a diving platform equipped with two ladders, 30 scuba tank supports, and a cabin with a toilet. The boat is also stocked with 500 litres of fresh water for rinsing and a life raft and life belts for safety. Nitrox is available for use during your dives.

The diving base is well-equipped for shore-based preparation, featuring a compressor and a dedicated equipment room. There are two sinks available for rinsing your kit, and a canopy area with tables and chairs for socializing or writing in your logbook.

Full equipment hire is available for those not travelling with their own kit. The centre maintains a regular replacement and maintenance schedule for all rental items to ensure reliability for every dive.

The marine life in Zakynthos is diverse, with rocky slopes and walls providing habitats for various species. You will frequently encounter Groupers (Epinephelus), Moray eel (Muraenidae), and various species of Scorpionfish (Scorpaenidae). Large schools of Sea bream (Sparidae) and goldlines are also common across the reef systems.

Macro enthusiasts will find plenty to observe among the crevices and corals. The area is a prime location for spotting various Nudibranch (Chromodoris willani) species, Octopus (Octopus vulgaris), and delicate peacock worms. You can also find crabs, shrimp (Caridea), and various species of lobster.

In terms of larger pelagics, the region is known for sightings of Great barracuda (Sphyraena barracuda) and Jack (Carangidae). From May to October, you may also have the opportunity to see Caretta Caretta turtles during their nesting season.

Diving in this region is best experienced from May to October. During this period, the water temperature typically reaches up to 27°C, and visibility can be excellent, reaching up to 50 metres.

While many sites are sheltered, some locations like Barakuda can experience variable currents. The topography includes many deep walls and canyons, so divers should be prepared for varying depths depending on the specific site and current conditions.
