Zante Blue Reef

Zante Blue Reef has been operating out of Tsilivi since 2007, situated in a sheltered bay near the Alexandra Beach hotel. The centre serves as a base for exploring the diverse underwater topography of Zakynthos, from shallow reef flats to deep, rugged coastlines.

Whether you are looking to begin your journey with a Discover Scuba Diving programme or are an experienced technical diver seeking Trimix training, the centre provides a structured and professional environment. Their approach prioritises small, manageable groups and individual attention over high-volume operations.

The team operates with a focus on safety and professional standards, maintaining a maximum ratio of four divers per guide. This ensures that even in more complex environments, such as caves or drift dives, you receive the necessary supervision and support.

Instruction is provided through the SSI framework, covering a vast range of certifications. From initial Open Water Diver training to advanced levels like Divemaster, the instructors are equipped to guide you through every stage of your progression. They also offer specialised training in first aid, including CPR and Oxygen Administrator courses.

The full spectrum of SSI certification is available at the centre. Beginners can start with Discover Scuba Diving or the Open Water Diver course, while those looking to advance can progress through Advanced Open Water Diver, Deep Diver, and Rescue Diver.

For technical divers, the centre offers specialised training in Nitrox (EANx), Advanced EANx, Recreational Trimix, and Advanced Recreational Trimix. They also provide training for Recreational Rebreather Divers, catering to those looking to move beyond open-circuit diving.

The centre maintains a well-equipped facility with a wide range of rental kit available for hire. You can find high-quality equipment from recognised brands including Apeks, Aqualung, Cressi, Scubapro, and Zeagle, alongside Suunto and Aquata dive computers.

For those looking to extend their bottom time or dive deeper, Nitrox and Trimix are available on-site. The centre also features a dedicated repair workshop staffed by qualified technicians, specifically trained on Zeagle equipment, ensuring that all gear is maintained to a high standard.

The waters around Zakynthos are home to a variety of large pelagics and interesting reef fish. You may encounter Great barracuda (Sphyraena barracuda), Tuna (Thunnus), Amberjack, and Bluefish, as well as Dolphins (Delphinidae) passing through the area.

On the reef and near the walls, look for Groupers (Epinephelus), Moray eels (Muraenidae), and various species of Wrasse (Labridae), including the ornate wrasse. You will also see Sea bream (Sparidae), Snapper (Lutjanus), and Parrotfish among the rocks.

For those interested in macro life, the area offers plenty of discovery. Keep an eye out for Octopus (Octopus vulgaris), Spiny lobster, Seahorses, and Scorpionfish (Scorpaenidae). You might also spot Nudibranchs, Starfish, and Sea urchins tucked into the crevices of the reef.

The best period for diving in this region is between May and October. During these months, water temperatures can reach up to 27°C, and visibility is typically excellent, ranging between 20 and 40 metres.
