Calypso Diving Estartit SL

Located in L'Estartit, Calypso Diving Estartit has been a fixture of the local diving community since 1982. Managed by Peter Lane, this family-run operation has spent four decades honing its expertise in the Mediterranean waters of the Costa Brava.

The centre is positioned perfectly to access the most significant marine habitats in the region. From the sheltered bays of the Montgrí coast to the highly protected marine reserve of the Medes Islands, the area offers a diverse range of underwater topography for all levels of experience.

The team is composed of five professional instructors, providing a high level of expertise across a wide range of PADI courses. To accommodate international divers, the staff is multilingual, with the ability to conduct dives and training in English, French, Spanish, Catalan, German, Dutch, and Russian.

Environmental stewardship is central to the centre's identity. They are a PADI Green Star centre and a partner of the Carta Europea de Turismo Sostenible, reflecting a long-term commitment to protecting the local marine ecosystems they dive in every day.

Calypso Diving Estartit provides a full spectrum of PADI training. Beginners can start with the Discover Scuba Diving programme, while those looking to begin their formal certification can work through the PADI Open Water Diver course.

For more advanced divers, the centre offers training up to the Divemaster level. The centre also features an adjacent swimming pool, which is used for theoretical sessions and practical skills training between 08:00 and 10:00.

The primary vessel is the Calypso II, a 13-metre specialised dive boat with a capacity for 36 passengers. It is supported by a safety zodiac, known as the Taxi rouge, to ensure safety during all excursions.

On board, you will find essential facilities including toilets and a small freshwater shower. The boat is equipped with nets to keep your personal belongings dry, as well as a radio, a first aid kit, and a SABRE oxygen unit for safety.

The centre operates its own on-site compression station. For your dive, you can choose between 12-litre or 15-litre steel cylinders, available with either DIN or A-clamp (étrier) valves.

Full equipment hire is available using Aqualung kit. The shore facilities include dedicated garages for equipment storage and rinsing, ensuring your kit is well-maintained between dives.
