Can Miquel

A family-run hotel on the edge of L’Escala, Can Miquel sits beside Cala Montgó, where the Montgrí Massif meets the coast in cliffs and fine sand. It is the sort of base that lets you keep the day simple: swim, walk, eat properly, then do very little for a while. Sensible, especially when your legs have already spent time arguing with the sea.

The setting also works for exploring on foot or by car. Platja de l’Illa Mateua is about 0.6 miles away on foot, while Platja del Salpatx is about 1.1 miles away. L’Escala’s cafés and bars are farther into town, but three restaurants are within roughly 0.1 to 0.2 miles, so dinner outside the hotel remains a short walk rather than a full evening plan.

The hotel restaurant serves lunch and dinner on its terrace, with a Catalan character and a la brasa style of cooking. There is also an outdoor barbecue directly in front of the sea. After a day in the water, that combination matters more than a menu full of grand adjectives: you can sit outside, order dinner and stay put.

Breakfast is served as a buffet, and half-board is available. One bar and an on-site coffee house cover the drinks and coffee side of the day, while packed lunches are available when your plans start before the kitchen does. The arrangement suits a diver who wants reliable meals at the hotel, with nearby restaurants available when you fancy a change.
