Xaloc Diving Center

Located in L'Estartit, Xaloc Diving Center serves as a gateway to some of the most biologically diverse waters in the Mediterranean. The centre is positioned perfectly to access the Medes Islands Marine Reserve and the rugged coastline of the Costa del Montgrí, offering a variety of environments from rocky reefs to cavernous structures.

With over 20 years of experience, the centre operates with a strong focus on professional standards and environmental stewardship. They hold ISO and CETS certifications, reflecting a commitment to sustainable diving practices in these sensitive marine habitats.

The instructional team is led by highly qualified professionals, including two SSI Instructor Trainers, Ramón Siliceo and Ricard Ciuró. This level of expertise means the centre is not just a place to dive, but a hub for training the next generation of divers and instructors.

The team provides instruction across the full spectrum of diving, from beginner levels to professional certifications such as Divemaster and Assistant Instructor. Training is conducted in small groups to ensure a high standard of safety and personal attention for every diver.

Xaloc Diving Center offers a comprehensive curriculum through SSI, ranging from the initial Open Water Diver course to professional Instructor training. For those looking to expand their skills, they provide a wide array of specialties including Deep Diving, Perfect Buoyancy, and Dry Suit diving.

Technical training is a core strength of the centre, with specific programmes for Sidemount, XR Foundations, Extended Range, and Decompression Diving. They also offer specialised training for those moving into the overhead environment with Cave Diving and Cave Diving Upgrade courses.

The centre is fully equipped for divers requiring rental kit, providing a complete range of equipment for those not travelling with their own. An on-site compressor is available to support daily operations.

Nitrox is available for divers looking to extend their bottom times. The facility is designed to support both recreational and technical divers, with the necessary infrastructure to manage gas requirements and equipment maintenance.

The marine life in this region is exceptionally diverse, supported by the protection of the local marine reserve. You will frequently encounter various species of Grouper (Epinephelus) and Great barracuda (Sphyraena barracuda) patrolling the rocky structures.

The reefs and rock faces are adorned with red gorgonians, providing a vibrant backdrop for observing resident fish such as Damselfish (Chromis chromis). Dentex and Moray eel (Muraenidae) are also common sights for divers exploring the deeper sections of the reef.

For those with an eye for smaller details, the area is excellent for macro enthusiasts. You can find various Nudibranch (Chromodoris willani) species amongst the crevices, alongside Lobster (Homaridae) hiding in the protection of the rocks.

Diving in the L'Estartit area is subject to Mediterranean conditions, with visibility reaching up to 50 metres in optimal periods. Divers should be prepared for varying levels of current depending on the specific site and the time of year.
