Sunrise Garden Beach Resort is a large beachfront resort in Hurghada built for guests who want the day organised around choice rather than improvisation. You can stay close to the sea, eat in several different restaurants, move between pools and bars, then retreat to an air-conditioned room when the Egyptian heat has done its work. It is the sort of place where a couple can split up for an hour without turning the afternoon into a logistical exercise.

The atmosphere is resort-based and family-friendly, with an aqua park, a kids’ play zone, evening entertainment and a nightclub alongside the quieter business of beach time and spa treatments. Divers are part of the picture, but not the whole show. That matters if you are travelling with someone who is happy to let you disappear underwater while they occupy themselves on land.

You are in Hurghada, Egypt, on the Red Sea coast at KM 17 of the Hurghada–Safaga Road. The catalogue label may point towards Sahl Hasheesh, but the booking location is Hurghada.

Hurghada International Airport is about 4 miles away by the surrounding-road information, while central Hurghada and Saqqala Square are around 9 miles from the resort. That puts the hotel close enough for a straightforward airport arrival, but not in the middle of town. You are choosing a self-contained resort rather than a base for wandering out every evening.

There are a few alternatives nearby when you want to break the all-inclusive routine: Sand City Hurghada is around 0.8 miles away, Hurghada Grand Aquarium about 2.5 miles away, and the Alladin / Jasmine Beach Marina roughly 1 mile away. The Terrace Shisha Lounge is about 300 metres from the property, while several restaurants are found further along the coast.

Every guest room gives you the basics that matter once salt, sun and a full day have taken their share: air conditioning, a minibar, satellite television, a wardrobe, a kettle and a balcony or terrace. Views vary between gardens, pools and the sea. The outdoor space is useful for sitting down with a drink and letting the room cool before you decide whether dinner is happening immediately or after a shower.

For two people, the partial sea-view rooms and the beach-front option are the obvious choices if opening the curtains onto water is part of the reason for coming to the Red Sea. The regular garden or pool-view rooms keep things simpler, while the Deluxe Room offers another couple-friendly route with a king-size bed. Sea views are not a substitute for a quiet room, of course, so your preferred outlook and your preferred sleeping conditions are not always the same thing.

Travelling as a family changes the calculation. The Family Room with bunk beds is aimed at keeping children’s sleeping arrangements separate from the main bed, while the Family Suite gives you more living space to spread out in. The Junior Suite and Royal Villa move into a much larger format, with the villa accommodating larger groups and offering five bathrooms. That is a great deal of house for a small dive party, but it makes sense when several people are sharing the same base.

Daily housekeeping, private bathrooms, towels, free toiletries and a hairdryer are included among the room facilities. Wi-Fi is free in public areas, and room service is available. The useful caveat is the extra-bed policy: cots can be requested for children aged up to two, but extra beds are not available.

This is an all-inclusive resort with six named restaurants, so you are not tied to the same buffet every evening. Heliodoro Restaurant covers international food and serves breakfast, lunch and dinner. Breakfast is continental and buffet-style, with room breakfast also available when you would rather keep the morning quiet before heading out.

The published meal times at Heliodoro change between summer and winter, with breakfast beginning at 07:00 and dinner running until 22:00; lunch times also move with the season. Check the current timing when planning an early start, because a buffet that opens later than expected is a poor companion for a dive schedule.

There are eight named bars around the resort. Sun Ray Lobby Bar and The Boulevard Bar cover the indoor end of the day, while Island Pool Bar and SUNRISE Pool Bar keep drinks close to the water. Oasis Beach Bar and Chiringuito Bar take care of the beach, with Chiringuito also serving snacks. Yades Bar and Yazol Shisha Café complete the list, the latter specialising in shisha. A snack bar, special-diet menus on request and breakfast in the room add useful flexibility when you do not want a formal meal.

Three swimming pools give you somewhere to drift when the sea is not on the agenda, while the new aqua park adds eight slides and a children’s play zone with smaller slides. Sun loungers, umbrellas and pool or beach towels are available, so the post-dive plan can be as ambitious as a slow walk to the water and no further.

If you still have energy left, the resort provides floodlit tennis courts, tennis equipment, a beach-volleyball court and a full-sized football pitch. You can also try table tennis, billiards, darts, mini golf, aerobics and live sport broadcasts. Archery, horse riding and water sports are available on site, with some activities carrying an additional charge. Snorkelling is also available, although diving remains a separate activity rather than something to fold into the afternoon programme.

Horas Spa is the place for more deliberate recovery. Treatments include massages, body treatments, facial treatments, foot reflexology, hot stones, Shiatsu, Thai massage, hammam rituals and treatments designed for two. The fitness centre has weight-training equipment and fitness classes, with personal trainers available on request. Add a manicure, pedicure, beauty treatment or a spell in the sauna, Jacuzzi or hammam if your idea of decompression involves rather more than lying horizontally.

Evenings bring live music or performances, themed dinner nights, entertainment, karaoke and a nightclub with DJ. The range is broad, which is useful for mixed groups, though it also means the resort is not designed around early nights and library-level silence.

Check-in starts from 14:00 and check-out runs until 12:00.
