Sea Wonders Diving Center

Located in Aqaba, Jordan, Sea Wonders Diving Center is a PADI 5 Star centre established to showcase the unique underwater topography of the Gulf of Aqaba. The area is renowned for its artificial reefs, where military and commercial aircraft have been strategically placed to foster marine life and provide challenging wreck diving.

The centre is positioned to serve both the casual snorkeller and the technical diver, offering access to a variety of environments ranging from shallow reef flats to deeper, more complex wreck sites. Its location allows for easy access to some of the most iconic submerged structures in the Red Sea.

The team is composed of 10 PADI certified instructors and 5 experienced divemasters. To ensure close supervision and safety, the centre operates with a ratio of one guide per diver.

Instruction is available in several languages, including English, Arabic, Russian, Chinese, German, Ukrainian, and Taiwanese. This multilingual approach makes the centre a versatile choice for international divers looking to complete advanced certifications or recreational courses.

The centre offers a comprehensive range of PADI courses, covering the entire spectrum from Open Water Diver through to Divemaster and Assistant Instructor levels. Divers can specialise in specific disciplines such as PADI Deep Diver, Wreck Diver, Night Diver, and Underwater Navigator.

Technical and specialty training is also available, including Enriched Air Nitrox, Peak Performance Buoyancy, Dry Suit Diver, and Digital Underwater Photographer. For those interested in marine biology, Fish Identification courses are also on offer.

Boat diving trips include a BBQ lunch on board and provide access to deeper sites and the more remote wrecks. These excursions also include water, snacks, and tea, alongside complimentary underwater photos and videos of your dives.

The centre provides full equipment hire, including modern, well-maintained kit. For those needing extra buoyancy or longer bottom times, 15-litre cylinders are available, and Nitrox 32% can be utilised for dives.

On-site facilities include separate changing rooms, showers, and toilets for men and women, as well as a spacious reception area and free Wi-Fi. For divers returning after a break, refresher sessions are available to ensure skills are current before heading back into the water.

The reefs are home to a high density of colourful fish, including Parrotfish (Calotomus), Damselfish, and various species of Fusilier (Caesio). You will often see large schools of reef fish, including Jacks (Carangidae), Snapper (Lutjanus), and various species of Butterflyfish (Chaetodon) dancing around the coral structures.

Large pelagic creatures and interesting residents like the Eagle ray (Aetobatus), Southern stingray, and various species of Shark (Selachimorpha) can be spotted in the clearer waters. Sea turtles (Cheloniidae), including the Hawksbill turtle (Eretmochelys imbricata), are also frequent visitors to the reef.

The hard coral and soft coral (Alcyonacea) formations provide a complex habitat for many invertebrates. Look closely to find Octopus (Octopus vulgaris), Moray eel (Muraenidae), and various species of shrimp (Caridea) tucked into the crevices.

Macro enthusiasts will find plenty to observe, from Nudibranch (Chromodoris willani) to various species of Scorpionfish (Scorpaenidae). The reef also hosts diverse life such as Seahorse (Hippocampus kuda), Trumpetfish (Aulostomidae), and various species of anemonefish.

The area is accessible year-round, with most sites offering calm conditions and minimal to gentle currents. However, certain sites like First Bay South are known for 'Death Valley,' an area where you may encounter strong, constant downcurrents.

Visibility is generally excellent, typically ranging from 20 to 30 metres across the main dive sites.
