Located in Paarden Eiland, Cape Town, Dive Action has been a cornerstone of the local diving community since 1990. With over 40 years of experience in the water, the centre has grown into a comprehensive hub for both scuba diving and freediving enthusiasts.

The centre is positioned perfectly to access the unique marine ecosystems of the Western Cape. You can explore everything from sheltered rocky reefs and lush kelp forests to deeper offshore sites and historic wrecks that have settled into the seabed after Cape storms.

As a PADI 5 Star IDC Centre, Dive Action is a professional training ground for the next generation of divers. They offer the full spectrum of instruction, including the PADI Scuba Instructor Course, allowing aspiring professionals to train in a structured, high-standard environment.

The team is composed of passionate instructors dedicated to ocean conservation and high-quality training. Their expertise extends across multiple disciplines, from technical specialties to freediving and marine conservation programmes like Shark Conservation and Coral Reef Conservation.

The training programme covers the entire PADI and CMAS spectrum. Beginners can start with Discover Scuba Diving or the PADI Open Water Diver course, while more experienced divers can progress through Advanced Open Water, Rescue Diver, and Divemaster levels.

Specialty training is extensive, including PADI Wreck Diver, Peak Performance Buoyancy, and Enriched Air Nitrox. For those maintaining their own gear, the centre provides expert servicing for regulators, BCDs, and dive computers. Their trained technicians follow strict guidelines using quality parts to ensure your kit performs reliably. They also offer specialised inspection and O-ring checks for camera housings.

The kelp forests and rocky reefs are home to a variety of larger marine life. You can regularly encounter excitable seals and the local leopard shyshark patrolling the reefs.

For macro enthusiasts, the crevices and sandy patches offer plenty to discover. Keep an eye out for nudibranch (Chromodoris willani), various crustaceans, and octopuses tucked away in the reef structure.

In the wider area, the ecosystem supports a complex web of life including reef fish, crabs (Brachyura), and various invertebrates. The kelp forests provide a backdrop for seeing sponges (Porifera), sea anemones (Actiniaria), and starfish (Asteroidea).
