Pole Pole Divers

Located in Jambiani Kibigija on the northern edge of Jambiani, Pole Pole Divers operates as a PADI Dive Resort in Zanzibar. The centre is designed around a Swahili style, providing a local atmosphere for divers looking to explore the Indian Ocean.

Daily excursions depart from the Jambiani base, with schedules adjusted to accommodate the local tides. The centre serves as a gateway to several distinct diving environments, including the reefs surrounding the mainland and more distant excursions to Mnemba Island and Kizimkazi.

The team consists of dedicated PADI professionals who manage all training and guided dives. Safety and professional standards are central to their operation, adhering to global PADI guidelines for all certification levels.

To ensure close supervision and a personalised experience, the centre maintains a strict ratio of no more than four divers per guide. This approach allows for better monitoring of buddy pairs and more detailed guidance during reef explorations.

Pole Pole Divers offers a complete range of PADI training programmes. Beginners can start with the Scuba Diver course or the Open Water Diver certification.

For those looking to advance their skills, the centre provides Advanced Open Water Diver and Rescue Diver courses. Professional training is also available for those aiming for the Divemaster level. Additionally, the centre offers the EFR First Aid Course and pool refresh sessions for those looking to update their skills.

The centre provides a full range of rental kit for divers who do not wish to carry their own equipment. This includes regulators, BCDs, fins, and masks.

For those requiring more specific items, full equipment hire is available on-site. The centre is also set up to facilitate transfers for divers staying within the local area.

The reefs are home to a diverse array of colourful fish, including schools of fusilier (Caesio), parrotfish (Calotomus), and various snappers (Lutjanus). You will often see larger predators such as blue trevallies, tuna (Thunnus), and even whitetip reef sharks (Triaenodon obesus) patrolling the area.

Macro life enthusiasts can find plenty to observe, from octopus (Octopus vulgaris) hiding in the crevices to various species of scorpionfish (Scorpaenidae) and frogfish (Antennarius). Look closely for seahorses (Hippocampus kuda), ghost pipefish (Solenostomidae), and nudibranchs (Chromodoris willani) amongst the reef structure.

In the open water and along the edges of the reef, larger pelagics may appear, such as eagle rays (Aetobatus) and various species of rays. Turtles, including the green turtle (Chelonia mydas), are also frequently encountered in these waters.

Dive schedules and departure times are flexible, shifting according to the daily tidal movements. This ensures that dives are conducted under the most suitable conditions for the specific site being visited.
