The mood is active when you want it, easy-going when you do not. Two outdoor pools, evening entertainment, a theatre, children’s activities, tennis and a wellness centre keep the resort moving, but the apartments give you a proper living area for the quieter part of the day. You are in Costa Calma, in the south of Fuerteventura and within the municipality of Pájara. The resort sits directly beside a sandy beach, so getting to the sea does not require a shuttle, a taxi or a heroic march in flip-flops. Costa Calma Beach is around 800 feet away in the local area information, while the property itself is described as beachfront with direct access.

The location is useful for more than just the shoreline. A restaurant is about 50 metres away, further restaurants sit at roughly 600 metres and 1 mile, and cafés and bars are around 0.7 miles away. Jandía Natural Park is about 9 miles away by road. Fuerteventura Airport is roughly 35 miles from the resort by road, with a drive of around 47 minutes.

These are apartments rather than standard hotel rooms, which matters when you come back hungry, sun-warmed and carrying more wet clothing than any sensible person should own. You get a separate bedroom, a living room with two sofa beds, a dining area and a kitchenette with a fridge, hob, coffee machine and kitchenware. That gives you somewhere to sit properly, make a drink and keep water cold instead of treating the bathroom basin as a temporary drinks cabinet.

Balconies are part of the appeal, and sea-view apartments are available if looking towards the water is important to you. The private entrance and tiled or marble floors keep the accommodation practical, while the seating area and sofa make it more than a bed with a television attached. Standard apartments work for couples or solo travellers who want a little breathing space; the larger occupancy options make more sense when three adults are sharing and everyone has brought luggage.

There is one bathroom, towels and linen, a wardrobe, hairdryer and satellite television. Safes are available to rent. The useful caveat is that there are no extra beds, so choose an apartment whose stated occupancy matches your group rather than hoping to squeeze in one more diver at the last minute.

Breakfast is served in continental and buffet form, giving you the straightforward start needed before a morning in the water: choose what you want, eat at your own pace and get on with the day. The complex also has a restaurant, so you can keep at least some meals on site rather than hunting for food while still thinking about your last dive.

There are two bars, including a pool bar, plus an on-site coffee house. That covers the practical drinking stops rather well: coffee when the day starts, something cold by the pool later and a bar when the sun has stopped behaving like a piece of dive equipment left on a hot deck. A mini-market is also part of the complex, useful for simple apartment supplies and forgotten essentials.

Special-diet menus are available on request. Wine and champagne, fruit and other drinks are available as extras, while the available information does not define a full-board or all-inclusive arrangement, so check the meal plan attached to the apartment you book.

The two outdoor swimming pools give you an easy alternative to the beach, with one heated during winter. There is also a children’s pool, sun loungers, umbrellas, a sun terrace and garden space. For more deliberate relaxation, the wellness facilities include a sauna, hot tub or Jacuzzi, relaxation area and massage services, with options ranging from head, neck, back, foot and hand massages to full-body treatments. A fitness centre and fitness classes are available as well, although some wellness and fitness services carry an additional charge.

When you want to move without committing to another major expedition, tennis courts, table tennis, darts, aerobics and walking tours are on the list. There is a games room and shared lounge for slower evenings, while live music, performances, karaoke and evening entertainment provide the resort’s answer to post-dive conversation. Families also have a kids’ club, playground and outdoor play equipment; children under three are not allowed in the kids’ club.

Check-in runs from 15:00 to midnight, and you need to tell the property your expected arrival time. Check-out is from 07:00 to 11:00. The front desk is open 24 hours, with concierge service, lockers, an on-site cash machine and car hire available for the practical jobs that tend to appear between flights, beaches and dinner.

Wi-Fi is free in the public areas. Card payment is accepted, but cash is not. The minimum check-in age is 18, and children of any age are welcome; children aged 13 and over are treated as adults for the accommodation policy. Cots can be requested for children aged up to two, subject to the selected accommodation option, while extra beds are not available.

The airport is a substantial drive rather than a quick hop across town, so allow for the journey when planning arrival and departure days. The resort’s central position in Costa Calma means you can also reach nearby restaurants, cafés and bars without relying entirely on a hire car.
