Kamadhoo Dive & Water Sports

Kamadhoo Dive & Water Sports is situated on the island of Kamadhoo within the Baa Atoll, a region recognised as a UNESCO World Heritage site. The centre is positioned just a few metres from a white sand beach, set amongst local palm trees, offering an authentic connection to the Maldivian islands.

Founded in 2017, the centre focuses on providing high-quality diving experiences while maintaining a strong commitment to marine conservation. Beyond the dives, the centre organises beach and sea clean-up days to help protect the local ecosystem.

The centre is led by Ali Shaffeq, known locally as AYYA, a PADI Divemaster with over 20 years of experience and more than 16,000 dives. His deep knowledge of the local underwater topography ensures that you are guided through the best possible sites.

The team provides instruction in both English and Italian. The atmosphere is built around local island culture, offering a genuine way to experience the Maldives beyond the typical resort setting.

As a PADI affiliated centre, they offer a complete range of training for all experience levels. Beginners can start with Discover Scuba Diving, Bubblemaker, or Junior Open Water courses, progressing through to Open Water Diver and Advanced Open Water Diver certifications.

For those looking to refine their skills, the centre provides specialised training including Peak Performance Buoyancy, Night Dive, Drift Dive, and Wreck specialties. They also offer Enriched Air training for divers wishing to use Nitrox.

The centre is equipped with high-quality kit from brands including Scubapro, Mares, and Cressi. They provide full equipment hire for those not travelling with their own regulator, BCD, or wetsuit.

For gas management, the centre uses a new compressor and provides 12-litre aluminium cylinders. Nitrox is available on-site for divers looking to extend their bottom times. Safety is a priority, with medical oxygen always kept on hand and available for use.

The waters of the Baa Atoll are renowned for sightings of large pelagics. You can regularly encounter Manta ray (Mobula alfredi), sharks, and various species of turtles, including the Green sea turtle (Chelonia mydas) and Hawksbill turtle. Schools of tuna (Thunnus), jacks, and fusiliers are common sights across the reefs.

Smaller reef inhabitants provide constant interest, with diverse populations of angelfish, butterflyfish, parrotfish, and triggerfish. You will also find surgeonfish and sweetlips (Plectorhinchus) patrolling the coral structures.

In the deeper sections or during specific excursions, there is the potential to see whale sharks (Rhincodon typus). Dolphins are also frequently spotted in the area, often during sunset or dolphin cruises.

The centre operates daily diving from 08:00 to 16:00, with night dives available between 19:00 and 21:00. Diving can be enjoyed year-round in the Baa Atoll.
