Kuredhi View is a compact hotel in Thulusdhoo, suited to divers who want a straightforward base with a beach nearby, air-conditioned rooms and an on-site restaurant. You get the useful things here rather than a long list of distractions: a balcony, a refrigerator, WiFi and somewhere to sit down properly after a day in the water.

Gasfinolhu Beach is about 2 miles away, giving you another stretch of coast to reach around the island. Velana International Airport is about 3 miles away, with an airport shuttle available through the hotel.

The surrounding area is island-based rather than built around a concentration of restaurants and bars. The hotel therefore works particularly well if you are happy to have your main meal where you sleep, then spend the evening on the terrace or by the shore.

The room choice is mainly about how you want to sleep and what you want to see when you open the balcony door. Couples can choose a room with an extra-large double bed, while two divers travelling together can avoid the nightly elbow negotiations with a twin arrangement. Sea-view versions are available for those who would rather wake up to water than to palms.

For a small family or a group of three, the family room combines an extra-large double bed with a single bed. That gives everyone a proper sleeping place, although there are no extra beds available. Cots can be requested for children aged two or under.

Every room has air conditioning and a fan, useful after heat, salt and a boat ride. You also get a private bathroom with a shower, a refrigerator for keeping water cool, a kettle with tea and coffee facilities, a desk, extra-long beds and a drying rack for clothing. Upper floors are reached by stairs only, so keep that in mind if stairs are less appealing after a full day of diving.

Sahana is the hotel's restaurant, serving Indian cuisine for breakfast, lunch and dinner. That gives you a dependable option when the appetite arrives before the energy for another walk around the island. Dinner is served in a relaxed setting, with the kitchen focused on Indian dishes rather than a sprawling international menu.

Breakfast is included and comes as a buffet with vegetarian, vegan and halal choices. Local specialities, juice and fruit are also part of the morning spread, so you can start with something familiar or try a taste of the island before heading out.

There is no bar listed as part of the hotel, so this is an address built more around meals than cocktails. The practical advantage is obvious: once you have eaten, your room and balcony are only a short walk away.

The hotel's direct beach access gives you the simplest possible plan for a non-diving afternoon: find a lounger, take the shade of a parasol and let the tide do the entertaining. A sun terrace and terrace provide another place to sit when you want a little distance from the sand without leaving the property.

Bicycle hire is available if you want to explore Thulusdhoo under your own steam. Fishing and snorkelling can also be arranged as activities away from the hotel, with the coast providing a reason to keep moving even on a day when you are not putting a tank on your back.

There is no need to force a timetable here. A cold drink from your room's refrigerator, a balcony, some WiFi and a fan may be the more realistic programme after a demanding dive day. The hotel gives you room for that sort of afternoon.

Check-in runs from 14:00 to 23:00 and check-out from 06:00 to 12:00. You need photo identification and a credit card at check-in, and the hotel asks you to share your expected arrival time in advance. The 24-hour reception and concierge service are useful if your journey does not fit neatly into office hours.

An airport shuttle is available as a paid service and can be arranged through the hotel. Daily housekeeping is included, and WiFi is free throughout the hotel and in the rooms. Payment at the property is by cash.
