EQ Dive Center

Situated in the Meemu Atoll, EQ Dive Center operates from the Medhufushi Island Resort, providing a base for exploring one of the Maldives' most vibrant marine environments. Since its founding in 2011, the centre has maintained a focus on ocean conservation and professional service.

The location allows for immersive experiences in the atoll, where the focus remains on the natural beauty of the reefs and the local pelagics. Whether you are looking to complete your first certification or are an experienced diver seeking advanced specialties, the centre is integrated into the resort environment to facilitate easy access to the water.

The centre is a PADI affiliated facility with over a decade of experience operating in the Maldives. It was founded by a French entrepreneur and has since built a reputation for combining international professional standards with a strong commitment to eco-responsible diving and ocean protection.

Instruction is conducted in English, making it accessible to the international diving community. The team manages a variety of programmes ranging from introductory dives for beginners to technical specialties for more experienced divers.

A comprehensive catalogue of PADI courses is available on-site. Beginners can start with Discover Scuba Diving (DSD) or progress through the PADI Open Water Diver and Junior Open Water Diver certifications.

For those looking to expand their skills, the centre offers several specialties including PADI Advanced Open Water, PADI Deep Diver, PADI Drift Diver, PADI Navigation, and PADI Peak Performance Buoyancy. They also provide training in PADI Nitrox, PADI Search & Recovery, and PADI Night Dive. More advanced divers can work towards the PADI Master Diver rating, while EFR training is also available.

The centre provides a full range of rental kit for those not travelling with their own equipment. This includes masks, snorkels, fins, and wetsuits, as well as more technical items such as BCDs, regulators, and dive computers.

For divers looking for more buoyancy control, 15-litre cylinders are available. Nitrox is provided as a standard service for all divers, ensuring longer bottom times and safer profiles during your excursions.

The waters of the Meemu Atoll are home to a diverse array of pelagics. You can expect to encounter Manta ray (Mobula alfredi) and various species of Shark (Selachimorpha), including Blacktip reef shark (Carcharhinus melanopterus), Whitetip reef shark (Triaenodon obesus), and Grey reef shark (Carcharhinus amblyrhynchos). Hammerhead sharks (Sphyrnidae) and Eagle ray (Aetobatus) are also part of the local ecosystem.

The reef structures are colonised by healthy corals and a variety of schooling reef fish. Larger residents such as the Napoleon wrasse (Cheilinus undulatus), Tuna (Thunnus), and Jack (Carangidae) are frequently seen patrolling the currents. You may also spot different types of Ray (Batoidea) and Nurse shark (Ginglymostoma cirratum) along the seabed.

Macro life and smaller inhabitants add significant detail to the dives. Look for Moray eel (Muraenidae), including reticulated moray eels, alongside Lionfish (Pterois volitans) and Parrotfish (Calotomus). Sea turtle (Cheloniidae) sightings are common, as are various species of Garden eel (Gorgasia) and Ghost pipefish (Solenostomidae) amongst the reef details.
