Bigorno Diving Center

Established in 2017, Bigorno Diving Center is a family-run operation situated on the north-west coast of Mauritius. This area is widely regarded as the best diving territory on the island, offering easy access to a diverse range of marine environments.

As a PADI 5 Star Dive Resort, the centre is positioned to support divers at every stage of their journey. Whether you are looking to complete your first breaths underwater or are working towards a professional qualification, the focus remains on safety and professional standards.

The centre is run by a professional team of eight instructors, ensuring a high level of expertise for both recreational and training divers. They maintain a strict ratio of three to five divers per guide, which allows for personalised attention and better control during dives.

Training is available through both PADI and SSI pathways, catering to different certification preferences. The team manages everything from introductory sessions like Discover Scuba Diving to advanced professional modules such as Divemaster.

A comprehensive curriculum is available through both PADI and SSI. For those starting out, the centre offers Discover Scuba Diving, PADI Scuba Diver, and SSI Scuba Diver, alongside the standard Open Water Diver courses.

Advanced divers can progress through specialties such as PADI Wreck Diver, PADI Deep Diver, and PADI Nitrox, or the SSI equivalents including Perfect Buoyancy and Navigation. The centre also provides training for professional levels, including Divemaster, as well as specialized courses like PADI Underwater Photographer.

The centre operates two 29-foot boats named Tion and Nad. Both vessels have a capacity of 12 passengers and are powered by Suzuki motors (2x140 and 2x115).

On board, you will find essential navigation tools including GPS, as well as oxygen kits and first aid supplies. To make the surface intervals more comfortable, the boats are equipped with water, tea, coffee, and biscuits for all divers.

The centre provides a full range of rental kit, with a focus on high-quality Scubapro equipment. For those needing specific cylinder types, they stock steel and aluminium DIN and YOKE cylinders, as well as aluminium Nitrox cylinders.

On-shore facilities include a reception area, changing rooms, and toilets. You can also make use of the hot water showers to rinse off after your dives.

The marine life in this region is diverse, with regular sightings of fish and turtles. You can often find octopus hiding amongst the reef structures during your dives.

For those interested in macro life, the area provides plenty of opportunities to spot various crustaceans and smaller inhabitants tucked into the reef.

Diving in this part of Mauritius is possible almost year-round, with water temperatures typically ranging between 24 and 29°C. Visibility is generally good, often reaching between 10 and 15 metres.
