Underwater Journeys operates as a specialised freediving club based in Paralimni, Cyprus. Founded by Jaro and Lucia, the centre focuses on the technical and meditative aspects of breath-hold diving, providing a structured environment for both recreational enthusiasts and those pursuing professional certifications.

The club serves as a gateway to the diverse underwater topography of the region, from the deep wrecks of Larnaca to the intricate cave systems of Cape Greco. With over 10 years of experience, the team combines technical expertise with a calm, safety-oriented approach to underwater exploration.

The team is led by Jaro, a specialist in deep training and wreck guiding, and Lucia, who brings expertise in underwater photography and yoga. This combination allows for a holistic approach to freediving, focusing on both physical conditioning and mental composure.

Instruction is conducted in English, German, and French, ensuring clear communication during technical training sessions. The small team of two instructors provides a personalised experience, whether you are working on static apnea, dynamic movement, or depth training.

The centre is a dedicated hub for AIDA freediving certifications, offering a complete progression from AIDA 1 through to AIDA 4 and Master levels. Their curriculum is designed to build foundational skills before moving into advanced depth training.

In addition to breath-hold disciplines, the centre provides instruction in Wreck Diving and Deep Training, catering to those looking to expand their technical underwater capabilities.

For those travelling without their own kit, the centre provides essential equipment including fins, wetsuits, masks, and snorkels.

Beyond basic gear, the centre offers specialised services such as underwater photography and specific training sessions involving rope work, static, and dynamic apnea exercises.

The local reefs and rocky habitats are home to a variety of interesting species. You can regularly spot Mediterranean parrotfish, devil firefish, and various species of octopus. The sandy areas and reef flats also host southern stingrays and several types of starfish.

Macro life and smaller inhabitants add significant interest to the dives, with seahorses and various crabs frequently found amongst the crevices. Divers may also encounter squid and jellyfish while exploring the water column.

In the wider area, it is possible to see Loggerhead sea turtles and Green sea turtles passing through the habitats. These larger pelagic visitors are a highlight for those observing the reef edges.

The local waters offer a seasonal temperature range between 17°C and 28°C. The underwater topography varies from shallow reef flats and lagoons to deep wreck sites and complex cave systems, requiring divers to be mindful of depth and environment.
