Hydrosphere Dive Club

Located in the heart of Protaras, Hydrosphere Dive Club provides a modern, personal approach to diving in Cyprus. Established in 2024, the centre was founded with a primary focus on freediving before expanding its expertise to include a full range of scuba diving programmes.

The club operates with a philosophy of relaxed, tailored experiences, ensuring that every diver receives the attention required to reach their full potential. Whether you are looking to start your journey with your first breaths underwater or are training for advanced freediving disciplines, the atmosphere is designed to be supportive and professional.

The team is led by Andrei, a Molchanov Freediving Instructor and RAID Scuba Instructor, who focuses on the freediving side of the operation. Joining the team in 2026 is Angie, a PADI Master Scuba Diver Trainer (MSDT) who manages the scuba diving programmes.

Instruction is kept highly personal, with a maximum of two divers per guide for scuba diving and up to three participants for freediving training. The instructors are able to communicate in English, German, and Hungarian, making the centre accessible to an international community of divers.

Hydrosphere Dive Club provides a comprehensive curriculum through PADI, RAID, and Molchanovs affiliations. For scuba divers, the range includes Open Water Diver, Advanced Open Water Diver, and the PADI Rescue Diver course, as well as the PADI ReActivate programme.

For those interested in freediving, the centre offers training across all levels, including Discover Freediving, Beginner Freediver, Advanced Freediver, and full Freediving Training programmes.

The centre offers a complete range of equipment for hire, covering all your needs from regulators to wetsuits. This allows divers to travel light while still having access to high-quality kit for their dives.

Nitrox is available for divers looking to extend their bottom time, with fills provided on-site.

The local waters are home to a diverse array of marine life, including black groupers, common stingray, and Green sea turtle. You may also encounter the Blackchin guitarfish, Lionfish, and various species of sea bream patrolling the reef.

For macro enthusiasts, the area offers plenty to observe, such as the Pink flabellina nudibranch, Spotted sea hare, and the Pleurobranchus testudinarius (sea slug). Keep a close eye on the seabed for the Short-snouted seahorse, Pearly razorfish, and the Atlantic lizardfish.

Other notable residents include the Fangtooth moray, Painted comber fish, and the Small red scorpionfish. You can also find sea urchins, spiny starfish, and Red starfish amongst the rocks and seagrass.

The diving season officially begins on April 6th, with the best conditions typically found from mid-February onwards. During this period, the water temperatures rise and the marine life becomes significantly more active, providing better opportunities for sightings.
