Thinalos Hotel is a recently renovated aparthotel in Saoúli, with air-conditioned accommodation, balconies and the sort of facilities that make sense when your day involves sun, salt and a fair amount of kit to put away. The hotel team speaks English and German, so you can sort out the practical details without resorting to improvised hand signals at reception.

The mood is easy-going rather than formal. A garden, terrace and outdoor pool give you places to sit between the beach, a meal and the next decision about whether you really need to move again. Family rooms and a menu for children make it workable for mixed-age groups, while the smaller double rooms suit couples who mainly want a comfortable base near the coast.

This is a place for straightforward beach time, a cold drink by the pool and a room with the useful basics close at hand. There is free WiFi throughout, free private parking on site and daily housekeeping.

You stay in Saoúli, on Corfu, with the sea 50 metres away and Acharavi Beach reached on foot in around two minutes. The beach has golden sand, sun loungers and parasols, so the route from your room to the water is short enough to make a second swim feel entirely reasonable.

The surrounding area gives you a few places to go when the hotel bar has done its job. Roda Beach is about 1.8 miles away on foot, while Almiros Beach is roughly 2.2 miles away. Fabric Bar is around 350 metres away, and Harry's Bar & Apartments is about half a mile from the hotel.

For a little more sightseeing, the Roman Baths of Acharavi are about 0.7 miles away. The Temple of Apollo is around 1.3 miles away, and Corfu Town and Paleokastritsa are available as organised excursions. Corfu International Airport is about 21 miles from the hotel by road.

The accommodation was renovated in 2023 and is arranged as aparthotel units rather than bare sleeping boxes. Every room has air conditioning, a private bathroom, a refrigerator, a television, free toiletries, towels and a hairdryer. The refrigerator is handy for keeping water cold when you come back warm, tired and slightly over-optimistic about how much unpacking you will do that evening.

For two people, the Double Room with Garden View keeps things simple, with twin single beds and a balcony looking towards the garden. It is the sensible choice if you want a compact base and expect to spend most of your waking hours outdoors. The Junior Suite with Garden View gives a group more room to spread out and accommodates up to four people, making it the more practical option for a family or a small group travelling together.

A balcony adds somewhere to sit with a drink while the air conditioning brings the room back to a comfortable temperature. The rooms are non-smoking, and the hotel also has family rooms, a lift and a safety deposit box at reception. Cots can be requested for children aged up to two, while extra beds are not available.

The Main Restaurant covers the three meals that matter most when your legs have had enough of the day: breakfast, lunch and dinner. The setting is indoors and air-conditioned, with international cooking rather than a menu built around one particular regional style. Half board is the hotel’s stated meal plan.

Breakfast comes as a buffet, with continental and full English or Irish choices available. Expect juice, fresh pastries, cheese and fruit among the breakfast staples. It is the kind of spread that lets you build a proper plate before heading out, or keep things lighter if the previous evening’s dinner is still making its presence felt.

Drinks and poolside snacks are handled by the Pool Bar, which also serves cocktails. That keeps the afternoon uncomplicated: swim, find a lounger, order something cold and leave the serious food to the restaurant. The nearby bars and cafés give you alternatives within walking distance when you want to vary the evening.

The outdoor swimming pool is the obvious place for a low-effort afternoon. It is unheated, with the Pool Bar close by and drinks and snacks available as you sit in the sun. A garden and terrace add more space for reading, talking or performing the traditional post-dive activity of staring into the middle distance while pretending to choose a book.

The beach is close enough for an easy change of scene, with golden sand, loungers and parasols. Snorkelling, kayaking and paddleboarding are available, and boat excursions can be arranged. Equipment rental is also available, so you can spend time on the water without turning the room into a full expedition base.

Away from the shore, bicycles are available to rent, and the hotel can arrange car hire. Walking, cycling and cultural excursions give couples or non-diving companions a way to fill the day without needing to commit to a full programme. Excursions to Corfu Town and Paleokastritsa are among the options.

Arrival is available around the clock, but you need to tell the hotel when you expect to arrive. Check-out runs from 06:00 to 11:00, useful if your flight or transfer demands an early start. The hotel accepts cash, Visa and Mastercard.

An airport transfer can be arranged with the hotel, either privately or as a shared shuttle, with the service to be booked directly with the property. Car hire is available if you want to explore beyond Acharavi, while free private parking is available on site without a reservation.
