Located on the Costa Tropical in Almuñécar, Scubasur provides access to some of the most varied underwater landscapes in the Granada region. The area is defined by a rugged coastline where rocky walls, submerged caves, and sheltered reefs create a rich environment for Mediterranean marine life.

The centre operates with a focus on both technical progression and recreational exploration. Whether you are looking to complete your first certification or are an experienced diver seeking advanced specialties like Deep Diver or Drift Diver, the local sites offer a range of depths and environments to suit your level.

As a PADI 5 Star dive centre, Scubasur maintains high standards of instruction and safety. The team is qualified to lead divers through the full spectrum of PADI training, from initial entry-level courses to professional Divemaster development.

The centre is committed to inclusive diving as a partner of the International Association for Disabled Divers (IAHD), providing adapted programmes for children and adults with physical or mental disabilities. Full kit hire is available for those not travelling with their own gear, covering everything from wetsuits and boots to masks and fins. For specialised requirements, the centre also provides torches for night diving and spotlights.

The rocky reefs and walls are draped in a rich tapestry of fixed life. You will find extensive colonies of gorgonians, soft corals, and orange star coral, alongside various sponges (Porifera) and bryozoans. Anemones and sea fans add further texture to the landscape, while large specimens of yellow coral and various sea squirts populate the deeper sections.

The fish life is diverse and abundant, with large groupers (Epinephelus) often found near the ledges. You can observe various species of wrasse, seabream, dentex, and bream, as well as scorpionfish and conger eels (Congridae) sheltering in the rocks. In the blue, you may encounter larger pelagics such as amberjack, bonito, and occasionally dolphins.

Macro life is a significant draw for many divers. The sites are excellent for observing a wide array of nudibranchs and other molluscs. You can also find various crustaceans, including spiny lobster (Palinuridae), lobsters, crabs, and large prawns, alongside octopuses and cuttlefish (Sepiidae).

Invertebrates such as sea urchins, sea stars, and various species of worms, including spirographs and serpulid worms, are common throughout the rocky habitats.

The local diving environment is characterized by varied topography, from shallow reef flats to significant rocky drop-offs. While many sites are sheltered, certain locations like Punta de la Mona can experience moderate currents.

Visibility is generally good, reaching up to 40 metres at some sites, though this can vary depending on the specific location and local conditions.
