The Red Sea begins almost at the garden gate here, with a private beach, a pier and the sort of post-dive decision that matters: pool, spa or dinner.

The invitation

Spread across landscaped gardens beside Abu Dabab Bay, Concorde Moreen Beach Resort & Spa is built for a proper resort stay rather than a quick stopover. You have the Red Sea in front of you, a private beach, several places to eat and drink, and enough space to disappear for a while when your logbook is already full.

The mood is easy to read. Couples can settle into sea views, a beach dinner or the adult-only pools, while families have a Kids' Club, playgrounds and family rooms. The hotel team speaks English, French, Italian, German, Polish, Swedish, Czech, Dutch and Ukrainian, so you can sort out the practicalities without resorting to semaphore after a long day in the water.

There are 220 rooms, free Wi-Fi throughout the hotel and a spa for the moments when your shoulders have had enough of carrying diving kit. It is a large resort, but the useful part is that your evening does not depend on finding somewhere else to eat or something else to do.

The point on the map

Your address is Abu Dabab, Egypt, on the El Quseir–Marsa Alam road, directly beside the Red Sea. The resort has a main beach, a private beach area and a pier reaching out from the shore. The pier is used for diving and snorkelling, while the beach setting keeps the sea within easy reach when you simply want to sit and watch it.

Marsa Alam International Airport is about 15 miles away by road, with the airport listed at roughly 13 miles from the property. Marsa Alam town is about 25 miles south. This is a coastal resort location, not a town-centre base, so your meals, evening drinks and most of your downtime happen on site.

You do have a few outside options, but they are not lined up outside the entrance. Shisha Corner is about 1 mile away, El Bedouin Arabian Tent about 9 miles away, and the listed restaurants are roughly 15 to 18 miles away by road. In practical terms, the resort's own restaurants are the sensible default unless you are deliberately heading out.

The rooms, and the nights

The rooms are modern in a straightforward way, with pale walls, tiled or marble floors and a private balcony. Garden, side-sea, sea and beach-front views give you a real choice about what you want to see when you open the door: greenery if you prefer a quieter visual backdrop, or the Red Sea if the view is part of the holiday for you.

For two divers, the standard superior rooms cover the basics without being shoehorned into a tiny space. You have a seating area, air conditioning, a minibar, tea and coffee-making facilities, a wardrobe and a flat-screen television. Soundproofing is also listed, which is the sort of detail you appreciate when an early start is waiting and the evening entertainment is still doing its thing elsewhere.

Couples who want the sea immediately in front of them should look at the beach-front or sea-view options. If three people are sharing, the family rooms and the larger deluxe family room make more sense than trying to negotiate personal space around two single beds. For a couple wanting more room and a beach-facing setting, the deluxe suite is the natural step up. Daily housekeeping, a private bathroom, shower, towels and free toiletries keep the return from the beach pleasantly uncomplicated.

The taste of the place

The stay is all-inclusive, with breakfast, lunch and dinner served at The View Restaurant. Breakfast is a buffet with continental, Italian, full English and Irish, vegetarian, halal and American choices, so the first meal of the day can be as restrained or as ambitious as your appetite allows. The kitchen works with fresh seasonal products, salads, pasta, shawarma and grilled meat and fish prepared at a live cooking station.

Dinner gives you more reasons to stay on site. Baraka Fisherman House serves seafood in front of the Red Sea, while La Dolce Vita concentrates on Italian and Mediterranean dishes with a sea view. Rendezvous covers breakfast and dinner with another sea-facing setting, and the Beach Restaurant serves lunch and dinner beside the sand, with no dress code. Some of the alternative dinners require a reservation, so it is worth arranging them before hunger turns you into a difficult customer.

There are two bars. The Blue is the pool bar, serving refreshing juices, cold beers and cocktails, while Boteco Bar covers coffee, cocktails and more cold beer in the evening. A snack bar and minibar are also available, useful when lunch feels too far away but a full restaurant meal feels like unnecessary paperwork.

Things to do, or nothing at all

Four outdoor pools divide the day neatly: two for adults and two for children. One adult pool and both children's pools are heated in winter, while the second adult pool is not. Sun loungers, beach chairs, umbrellas and pool or beach towels let you claim a patch of shade without treating the nearest palm tree as personal property.

The spa is the obvious answer when your back, legs or general sense of structure need attention. Facilities include a hammam, sauna, jacuzzi, Moroccan bath, massages, facial treatments, beauty services and a relaxation area. There is also a sea-view fitness room, which gives you the option of gentle exercise rather than pretending that a third dessert counts as rehabilitation.

Away from the water and the dining tables, the resort offers beach volleyball, beach football, bocce and gymnastics, as well as darts, table tennis and billiards. Evening entertainment and an entertainment team keep the day moving. Families have a Kids' Club, children's playgrounds and outdoor play equipment, while horse riding is also available.

What to know before booking

Check-in starts at 14:00 and check-out runs until 12:00. A 24-hour front desk handles arrivals and departures, with express and private check-in and check-out also available. Luggage storage, lockers, a concierge service, a tour desk, currency exchange and an on-site cash machine cover the practical interruptions that otherwise eat into a holiday.

Marsa Alam International Airport is about 15 miles away by road. Airport shuttle and limousine services are available through the hotel, and car hire is also offered. Free private parking is available on site without reservation, which is useful if you are driving rather than arriving by air.

Wi-Fi is free throughout the hotel. Air conditioning, wake-up service, daily housekeeping, laundry, dry cleaning and ironing services are available. Children of any age are welcome; cots and extra beds can be requested, with availability depending on the room option. Pets are allowed, and cash is an accepted payment method.

Protecting what you came to see

The resort is certified as a Green Star Hotel. Its environmental work focuses on reducing its carbon footprint and protecting the surrounding flora, fauna, marine life and Egyptian biodiversity.

The practical measures cover energy and water conservation, reducing waste and recycling. That matters particularly at a Red Sea property, where the landscape is not merely scenery behind the sun loungers but part of the reason you travelled this far.
