Kaimana Divers

Located in Honolulu, Kaimana Divers has been operating since 2006, providing access to the diverse underwater landscapes of Oahu. The centre focuses on the island's striking combination of large-scale shipwrecks and healthy coral reef systems.

Whether you are looking to complete your first certification or you are an experienced diver seeking local expertise, the centre is structured to handle various experience levels. The focus remains on safe, professional outings that highlight the specific marine biology of the Hawaiian islands.

The centre is an IDC Center affiliated with both PADI and SSI, ensuring a wide range of recognised training standards. The team is composed of professional instructors, including specialists with expertise in marine biology, which adds a layer of educational depth to the dives.

Safety and attention to detail are managed through a strict diver-to-guide ratio, with a maximum of six divers per guide. This ensures that even in more complex environments, such as wreck explorations, you have adequate supervision and support from your instructor.

Kaimana Divers offers a full range of training through PADI and SSI. For those starting their journey, they provide the Open Water Diver course, as well as refresher courses to brush up on skills.

For divers looking to advance their technical abilities, the centre provides the Advanced Open Water course. The instruction is led by certified professionals capable of guiding you through each stage of your certification.

Diving trips are conducted via a network of professional boats, with a capacity of up to 18 people per outing. This arrangement allows for a variety of excursions across the Oahu coastline.

The reefs of Oahu are home to a diverse array of pelagics and reef residents. You will regularly encounter Hawaiian green sea turtles (Chelonia mydas), various species of sharks including the Whitetip reef shark (Triaenodon obesus), and rays. Schools of fish such as Snappers (Lutjanidae), Jacks, and various reef fish move through the water columns.

On the reef structure itself, you will find a rich environment of hard corals and soft corals, alongside sponges (Porifera) and Gorgonian (Gorgonacea). Sea anemones (Actiniaria) and various invertebrates provide habitat for smaller species like Octopus (Octopus vulgaris) and various shrimp (Caridea).

Macro life enthusiasts can look for more specialised residents, including the leaf scorpionfish, devil scorpionfish, and Frogfish (Antennariidae). You may also spot Nudibranch (Chromodoris willani) or various species of eels (Anguilliformes), such as the white-mouth moray eel.

Seasonally, the waters around Oahu offer the opportunity to observe whales.
