The setting suits you if a dive trip also needs room to breathe. Sea views, tropical greenery, private balconies, terraces and gardens give the place a residential feel rather than the usual corridor-and-room arrangement. There is a large swimming pool, an air-conditioned gym and an in-house restaurant, so the basics are close at hand when your legs have had enough of island life.

Couples can keep things simple around the pool and head out for the sunset. Families and groups have more useful space to work with, particularly in the larger apartments. It is not a party address: quiet hours run from 23:00 to 08:00, while Long Beach’s restaurants and bars remain within walking distance.

Villa Lila is in Ko Lanta, Thailand, on the island’s west coast. Long Beach is about 0.7 miles away, with Relax Bay Beach around 0.6 miles away and Secret Beach around 0.8 miles away. You are close enough to reach the sand on foot, but the property is set back from the beachfront rather than placing your door directly on it.

The surrounding area gives you plenty of choice once you have dried off. Restaurants include Ni Restaurant, Spaghetti by Mangia and Rocks Bistro & Bar, with Som Palm Garden nearby for a drink and cafés such as Lok Loek Coffee and Casa De Café within roughly half a mile. Mu Ko Lanta National Park is around 12 miles away by road, making it a realistic island outing rather than a quick stroll before lunch.

The west-facing position is useful for sunset views, while the property’s set-back location offers more shelter during storms. Krabi International Airport is about 48 miles away by road, with the drive taking around an hour and a half.

The accommodation is built around space and self-sufficiency. Every apartment has a fully equipped kitchen, a private bathroom, air conditioning and outdoor space in the form of a balcony or terrace, with sea views available. That matters when you return warm, salty and hungry: you can cool down properly, keep drinks cold and make something simple without turning the evening into another expedition.

For two people, a one-bedroom apartment or villa keeps the layout manageable and gives you more privacy than a standard hotel room. If you are travelling with family or a group, the three-bedroom apartments are the sensible choice, with several bathrooms and enough room to avoid queueing for the shower after a boat day. One of the larger options is specifically suited to families, groups and remote workers, so a laptop and a wet towel need not compete for the same square metre.

Sea views and terraces make the rooms pleasant places to spend the late afternoon, while the air conditioning gives you a proper reset before dinner. Housekeeping takes place every two days, with a weekly service including fresh towels and bed linen. WiFi is available throughout the property, which is handy for checking the next day’s plans without having to leave your chair.

The on-site Bar & Bistro handles the food, with Thai, European and barbecue grill cooking on the menu. The kitchen works with fresh, locally inspired dishes as well as familiar international favourites, which gives you a choice between keeping the evening local and ordering something uncomplicated when the day has taken its toll.

Brunch, lunch and dinner are available, and cocktails are served at the bar. Room service is also available, useful when you have come back from the water with the appetite of a small marine mammal but no enthusiasm for getting dressed again. Barbecue facilities are available outdoors as well.

There is one named bar and restaurant, the Bar & Bistro, rather than a collection of venues spread across the property. That keeps the evening straightforward: swim, eat, have a drink and get back to the room without needing a map.

The main recovery tool is the outdoor saltwater pool, designed as a zero-edge infinity pool and surrounded by tropical greenery. Sun loungers and pool or beach towels are available, so you can make a proper afternoon of doing very little. The sea views add a useful reason to stay put until the light changes.

Bamboo Massage offers massage treatments, including full-body, head, neck, back, hand and foot work. It is the sort of option that makes sense when your shoulders have spent the day carrying equipment and your feet have been walking over hot sand. For a more active pause, the air-conditioned gym includes strength and cardio equipment, with a rack available for those who still have unfinished business with their training routine.

The tour desk can help arrange island tours, cultural excursions, snorkelling and boat trips. Bicycles are available, and car hire can be arranged for exploring beyond the nearby beaches. You can also book babysitting or child services, which gives travelling families a little more freedom to use the pool or go out for dinner.

An airport shuttle from Krabi International Airport is available on request, and car hire is offered on site. Free private parking is available, with a reservation required. Luggage storage, laundry and a tour desk are also available, while WiFi is free throughout the property.

Check-in runs from 14:00 to 21:00, and you need to tell the property your expected arrival time in advance. Check-out is from 08:00 to 11:00. The minimum age for check-in is 20, while children of any age are welcome; cots can be requested for children aged up to three, subject to availability. Extra beds are not available.

Smoking is not allowed, parties and events are not permitted, and the quiet period is from 23:00 to 08:00. Pets can stay on request. Electricity usage is charged separately, and payment before arrival by bank transfer is required, so keep those two practical points in mind when organising the booking.
