Flip Flop Divers

Flip Flop Divers is situated on the island of Koh Lanta, positioned on the main road of Long Beach near the 7/11. It serves as a base for exploring the diverse marine environments of the Andaman Sea, from shallow reef flats to deep offshore sites.

The centre operates with a strong commitment to environmental stewardship, holding status as a 100% Blue Oceans centre and a Project Aware partner. This focus on reef protection and plastic reduction defines their approach to diving in these sensitive waters.

The team at Flip Flop Divers is composed of experienced instructors who prioritise a low diver-to-guide ratio. You will typically dive in small groups, with a maximum of two students per instructor, allowing for precise guidance and safety monitoring.

Instruction is conducted in English and Thai. The centre manages all the logistics for your stay, including organising accommodation based on your requirements and providing transfers to and from your resort included in your dive booking.

As an SSI affiliated centre, Flip Flop Divers provides a complete spectrum of training. You can begin with Try Scuba or Basic Diver programmes and progress through Open Water Diver and Advanced Open Water Diver certifications.

For those looking to specialise, the curriculum includes Deep Diver, Wreck Diver, Nitrox Diver, and Perfect Buoyancy Diver. They also offer technical and professional pathways, covering everything from Divemaster and Instructor levels to specialised skills like Navigation, Search and Recovery, and Computer Diving.

The centre offers full kit hire for divers who do not wish to travel with their own equipment. Nitrox is available for use, making it a practical choice for extended dive schedules.

On-site, you will find a comfortable reception café and bar for relaxing between dives. For those looking for more comprehensive travel arrangements, the centre can also assist with organising land or sea transfers to Trang, Krabi, or Phuket.

The reefs are teeming with life, including various species of sharks such as Blacktip reef sharks (Carcharhinus melanopterus), Whitetip sharks, and Zebra sharks. You will often see large pelagics including Manta rays (Mobula alfredi) and various species of Jacks (Carangidae), alongside schools of Fusiliers (Caesio) and Snappers (Lutjanus).

The hard and soft coral structures provide a home for a vast array of colourful reef fish. Look for the Emperor angelfish, Butterflyfish (Chaetodon), and various species of Grouper (Epinephelus) amongst the Sea fans (Gorgoniidae) and barrel sponges.

Macro enthusiasts will find plenty to observe, from the Ornate ghost pipefish (Solenostomus paradoxus) to various Nudibranchs. The seabed hosts many crustaceans, including Harlequin shrimps, Imperial shrimps, and various species of Octopus (Octopus vulgaris) and Cuttlefish (Sepiidae).

Divers should be prepared for varying conditions depending on the site. The Kled Kaew Wreck, in particular, is highly sensitive to currents due to its north-south orientation, making it a site that requires confidence and experience.
