For two, the Standard Double Room keeps things simple, while the Standard King Room gives you a larger bed if stretching out is part of the recovery plan. The Family Room is the one to look at when you need space for up to four people and would rather not negotiate every square metre of floor with luggage.

The restaurant has outdoor seating by the beach, panoramic views and a wine cellar covering Old World and New World bottles.

The Pool Bar sits beside the swimming pool and handles cocktails, wine and Thai-style tapas. It also serves lighter food such as salads, burgers, tacos, spring rolls and sandwiches, followed by evening tapas with Thai touches, including Massaman lamb pies and spicy tuna tartare.

Vegetarian, vegan and gluten-free dishes are available on request. After the sun goes down, smart casual dress applies in the restaurant: no swimwear and no bare torsos. A fair trade for eating dinner without someone arriving from the pool still wearing half of it.

The outdoor swimming pool gives you an easy landing place for a non-diving day, with a poolside area, beach views and the Pool Bar close by. It is open daily from 7am to 7pm, so you can take an early dip or settle in later once the day has cooled down.

For something more active, the gym near the pool opens from 7am to 7pm and includes cardio and strength equipment, together with free weights. That covers the sort of workout that makes sense on holiday: enough to move, not enough to require a second holiday afterwards.

The hotel can arrange activities ranging from Thai cooking classes and wine tastings to cocktail, smoothie, mocktail, tea, coffee and Thai dessert sessions. Cultural outings include Phuket Old Town exploration, while organised excursions cover Phang Nga Bay, James Bond Island and the Phi Phi Islands. Sea kayaking, big-game fishing, zipline adventures, surfing, fishing and luxury yacht charters are also part of the activity menu.

Families have a little extra to work with, including Junior Chef and children’s mixology workshops for ages 3 to 12. The property also offers family-suitable suites, while a private beachfront dinner gives couples a more deliberate reason to put on something cleaner than the clothes worn for travelling.

Ranong Airport is about 14 miles away by road, with the drive taking around 22 minutes. Airport transfers can be arranged on request, either as a direct taxi journey or through a private transfer organised by the hotel. Car hire is also available, and free private parking is provided on site without requiring a reservation.

Check-in runs from 2pm to 6pm, and you should tell the property your expected arrival time. A photo ID and credit card are required at check-in. Check-out is by noon, giving you a little room for a slower final morning rather than forcing you out at breakfast time.
