Located on the island of Pico, BrizAçores offers a perspective on the Azores that few other centres can match. The centre operates out of the port of Lajes do Pico, serving as a gateway to some of the most significant dive sites in the region. Whether you are looking for a relaxed day of coastal diving or a multi-day sailing expedition, the focus remains on the unique volcanic character of these islands.

The centre is defined by its local roots, with a proprietor who has spent their entire life navigating and diving these waters. This deep-seated connection to the Azores ensures that you receive guidance based on genuine, long-term observation of the local marine environment.

Instruction is provided by experienced professionals, catering to a range of skill levels. The team facilitates everything from introductory sessions for those new to the water to professional-level training for aspiring leaders.

The centre provides a comprehensive curriculum of training through recognized certification standards. Beginners can start with Discover Scuba Diving before progressing to the Open Water Diver course.

For more experienced divers, the centre offers Advanced Open Water, Rescue Diver, and professional-level training including Divemaster. This allows you to build a solid foundation in a calm, professional environment before tackling more challenging offshore sites.

The Bavaria 46 Cruiser is the centre's primary vessel, a 14.27-metre sailing yacht used for liveaboard adventures. It is configured to accommodate up to 8 divers and features 4 cabins, 3 toilets, a lounge, and a fully equipped kitchen, allowing for comfortable multi-day trips across the archipelago.

For offshore excursions to sites like Princesa Alice, the boat provides a platform for extended exploration. These trips, which can take 3 hours by motor or 10 hours by sail, include lunch on board to allow for a full day of diving in the open Atlantic.

For those travelling without their own kit, a full range of equipment is available for hire on-site. This includes essential items such as wetsuits, fins, and masks to ensure you are ready for the local conditions.

The volcanic walls and deep reefs are home to a diverse array of large species. You can expect to see great barracuda (Sphyraena barracuda), tuna (Thunnus), and various sharks (Selachimorpha) patrolling the currents. Mobula rays and manta rays are also frequent visitors to the deeper sections of the reef.

In the rocky crevices and under the ledges, you will find resident groupers (Epinephelus) and various species of jack and parrotfish. The presence of sardines (Sardina pilchardus) often adds significant movement to the mid-water columns.

Black coral provides a striking backdrop to the underwater landscape, especially on the deeper walls. The ecosystem is supported by a healthy population of smaller reef fish that inhabit the volcanic arches and swim-throughs.

Diving in the Azores is heavily influenced by the Atlantic's character. The centre offers both coastal dives and offshore trips, with the latter requiring more significant travel time by boat to reach the deeper, more exposed sites.
