Abc Dive

ABC Dive has been operating from Anse Mitan in Les Trois Ilets since December 2017. The centre is positioned directly on the bay, providing a convenient and spacious base for exploring the Caribbean underwater.

Whether you are looking to complete your first certification or are an experienced diver seeking wreck penetrations or night dives, the centre operates with a focus on the local marine environment. They are active partners in the INA-Scuba programme, contributing to the scientific monitoring of local sea turtles, rays, and sharks.

The team is composed of four professional instructors who lead all training and guided explorations. The centre is affiliated with both PADI and FFESSM, meaning they can accommodate divers looking for international certifications or the French national standards.

Instruction is provided in French. The atmosphere is designed to be convivial and family-oriented, making it easy to integrate into the local diving community during your stay.

A full range of training is available through PADI and FFESSM pathways. Beginners can start with Scuba Diver or Niveau 1 courses, progressing through Open Water Diver (OWD) and Advanced Open Water Diver (AOWD).

For those looking to advance their skills or career, the centre offers Rescue Diver, Divemaster, and DEJEPS training. Specialty courses include Nitrox, Deep Diver, and night diving. They also facilitate FFESSM specific levels such as Niveau 2, Niveau 3, and PE12.

The centre operates a boat with a capacity for 17 divers. It is equipped with a taud to provide shade for passengers during the transit to the various sites around the island, ranging from Îlet à Ramiers to Le Diamant.

Daily outings are organised as double tank dives each morning. Nitrox 32% is available on board for those who require extended bottom times.

The centre provides full kit hire using high-end Aqualung equipment, including compensated regulators and ProHD BCDs with integrated weight pockets. For thermal protection, they offer 4mm shorties or 3mm full wetsuits.

Shore-based facilities include spacious, sheltered areas for gearing up and changing. There are dedicated changing rooms, toilets, and a relaxation area. The centre also utilises rainwater collection systems for rinsing equipment.

The reefs are home to a diverse array of large marine life. You will frequently encounter Green sea turtles, Hawksbill turtles, and various species of rays, including Southern stingray (Hypanus americanus) and leopard rays. Large pelagics like Great barracuda (Sphyraena barracuda) and various jacks (Carangidae) are also part of the local ecosystem.

Reef fish are abundant, including many species of angelfish (Pomacanthidae), butterflyfish (Chaetodon), and surgeonfish (Acanthuridae). You can also spot parrotfish, triggerfish (Balistidae), and various snappers and groupers.

For those interested in macro life, the area offers plenty to see. Look out for seahorses (Hippocampus kuda), octopuses, and various crustaceans including spiny lobster (Palinuridae), crabs (Brachyura), and spider crabs. Small residents like porcupinefish (Diodon) and various species of colorful reef fish add to the biodiversity.

Fixed life is well-represented by various corals, sponges (Porifera), and large gorgonians. Sea fans (Gorgoniidae), sea pens, and wire coral provide the structural complexity that supports the local fish populations.

The centre operates daily, with morning departures scheduled for 08:30. The sites visited vary in character, from shallow reef flats to deeper walls and wreck sites.

Night diving is a regular part of the programme, with both guided sessions and autonomous options available for qualified divers. Torches can be hired on-site for these excursions.
