Oceanic Nomad Divers

Located on the unique island of Fuvahmulah, Oceanic Nomad Divers operates with an ethos rooted in the shared heritage of Maldivian mariners and the nomadic marine life that surrounds the island. The centre is designed for divers who seek a connection to the ocean that goes beyond standard sightseeing.

The team at Oceanic Nomad Divers is built around specialist knowledge and local expertise. You will dive alongside guides who specialise in shark behaviour, ensuring that encounters are both thrilling and conducted with minimal impact on the animals.

Adding a scientific dimension to the experience, the team includes a conservation scientist and NatGeo Explorer. This allows for a deeper understanding of the pelagic species that frequent these waters. The waters around Fuvahmulah are a significant hub for large pelagics. You can expect to encounter a wide variety of sharks, including Tiger shark (Galeocerdo cuvier), Bull shark (Carcharhinus leucas), oceanic whitetip sharks, and Silky shark (Carcharhinus falciformis). Hammerhead sharks (Sphyrnidae) and Thresher shark are also part of the local ecosystem.

Other large species that frequent the area include Lemon shark (Negaprion brevirostris), silvertip sharks, and guitarfish sharks. You will also see various rays, such as the Southern stingray (Hypanus americanus), alongside large Caranx ignobilis and rainbow runners.

The reef is populated by a diverse array of reef fish and Snapper (Lutjanus). The structural foundation of the habitat is provided by Hard coral (Scleractinia), which supports a complex web of marine life ranging from smaller reef fish to larger pelagic species.
