Shark Heaven Fuvahmulah

Shark Heaven Fuvahmulah is situated on a unique oceanic island in the Maldives. Unlike many other Maldivian atolls, Fuvahmulah lacks a protective reef flat or surrounding lagoon, meaning the deep ocean is accessible almost immediately from the shore.

On the reef and surrounding structures, you will find various reef fish, snapper (Lutjanus), and colourful reef fish. The biodiversity is supported by hard coral (Scleractinia) ecosystems that provide habitat for much of the local life.

Because Fuvahmulah is an oceanic island without a lagoon, the diving is characterised by direct access to deep water. This can result in different current profiles compared to the sheltered atolls found elsewhere in the Maldives.
