Panorama Divers

Panorama Divers operates out of Grand Baie, Mauritius, providing access to the diverse marine environments of the north. With a history dating back to 1992, the centre has built a reputation for technical proficiency and personalised small-group diving, ensuring you aren't lost in a crowded boat.

The team is led by Jean-Luc Schmitt, a PADI Course Director, alongside Master Instructor Cindy and Instructor Tom. This professional core is supported by Anusha in guest relations and Donovan, the skipper, ensuring the logistics of your day are handled by experienced hands.

As a PADI 5 Star IDC and CDC centre, they are equipped to train both recreational divers and the next generation of professionals. The staff speaks English, French, German, and Italian, making communication straightforward for international divers. Their approach is rooted in a long-standing commitment to marine conservation and ecological diving practices.

The training programme is extensive, covering the full spectrum of PADI certifications. You can begin with Discover Scuba Diving or work through Open Water Diver, Advanced Open Water Diver, and Rescue Diver levels.

For those moving into professional waters, the centre offers Divemaster, Instructor, and MSDT courses. They are a dedicated PADI Tec Rec centre, providing specialised training in Tec 40, 45, and 50, including Trimix and Normoxic Trimix options. They also support advanced rebreather divers with Advanced CCR Rebel Diver, Normoxic Rebel Diver, and Trimix CCR Rebel Diver courses.

The centre provides full equipment hire for those not travelling with their own kit, with a focus on high-quality Apeks regulators. For those looking to capture their dives, GoPro 12 cameras are available for daily hire.

Technical divers will find the necessary gas support on-site, with Nitrox available upon request. The facility is set up to support a wide range of diving, from entry-level Discover Scuba Diving to advanced rebreather and Trimix operations.

The reefs around Grand Baie are home to a vast array of colourful fish, including various species of butterflyfish, angelfish, and surgeonfish. You will often see schools of yellow snappers and blue-striped snappers moving through the water column near the reef structures.

Macro enthusiasts will find plenty to explore, from delicate nudibranchs to curious shrimp. The sites are also known for scorpionfish hiding in the crevices and various species of moray eels, including yellowmouth morays, patrolling the reef.

Large pelagics and interesting residents like stingrays and turtles are regular visitors to the area. If you are lucky, you may even spot the elusive rhinopias amongst the vibrant soft corals that coat the wrecks and reef flats.

The local diving conditions are characterised by warm, clear waters throughout the year. However, divers should be prepared for varying conditions depending on the site, as certain areas like the Djabeda Wreck can experience strong currents.
