Corsair Diving Malta is a family-run PADI 5 Star IDC centre situated in Bugibba, positioned just a short walk from the main square and close to Qawra and St Paul's Bay. Established in 2017, the centre has built a reputation for high educational standards, offering everything from initial discovery dives to professional instructor training.

The centre provides a gateway to some of the Mediterranean's most diverse underwater environments. Whether you are looking to explore the deep wrecks surrounding the Maltese islands or navigate the intricate swim-throughs and caves of Gozo and Comino, the team organises trips tailored to your specific certification level and interests.

The team is a close-knit group led by Christina, an environmental engineer, and Chris, who brings a strong interest in marine conservation and underwater geocaching. They are joined by Emily and Lucas, ensuring a warm, family atmosphere for every diver. The professional staff includes Gordon, an experienced instructor, and Sophie, a marine biologist and instructor involved with Sharklab Malta, alongside Divemaster trainee Tian.

Instruction is conducted in English, German, French, Italian, and Russian, making it easy to communicate technical details clearly. The centre places a heavy emphasis on safety and small group sizes, ensuring that every diver receives the attention required for a safe and rewarding experience.

As a PADI 5 Star IDC centre, the course catalogue is extensive, covering the entire spectrum of diver development. Beginners can start with Discover Scuba Diving or the Bubblemaker programme, progressing through the Open Water Diver and Advanced Open Water Diver certifications.

For those looking to specialise, the centre offers a variety of PADI specialties, including Wreck Diver, Deep Diver, Night Diver, and Peak Performance Buoyancy. They also provide advanced training such as the Search & Recovery and Self Reliant Diver courses.

The professional stream is a core strength of the centre, with paths leading from Divemaster through to the Instructor Development Course (IDC). They also offer specialised training like Gas Blender - DSAT and Oxygen Provider.

The centre maintains a modern classroom and a small boutique for your needs. They provide a full range of high-quality rental kit, including BCDs, wetsuits, torches for night dives, and dive computers.

Nitrox is available on-site for divers looking to extend their bottom time. The equipment is regularly maintained and replaced to ensure reliability for both local shore dives and boat trips to Comino or deeper wreck sites.

The marine life around Malta is incredibly diverse, with many species found along the various reefs and walls. You will regularly encounter groupers (Epinephelus), dentex, and large schools of fish such as sea bream (Sparidae) and salema porgy (Sarpa salpa). In the deeper waters, barracuda and amberjack are often seen patrolling the blue.

Macro life enthusiasts can find plenty to observe in the crevices and sandy patches. Look out for octopus (Octopus vulgaris), cuttlefish (Sepiidae), and various species of moray eel (Muraenidae). You may also spot hermit crabs, decorator crabs, and scorpionfish (Scorpaenidae) hiding amongst the rocks.

The reefs and caves are home to a variety of smaller inhabitants, including seahorse (Hippocampus kuda), various species of wrasse (Labridae), and damselfish. In the winter months, you might be lucky enough to see John Dory or Spanish dancers.

Diving in Malta is possible year-round, with most sites being easily accessible via shore entry. While many of the famous wrecks require a boat trip to reach, the majority of the local reefs and walls can be reached from the beach.

Water movement can vary depending on the site, but the area is known for its excellent visibility, which frequently exceeds 20 metres. The coastline offers a mix of shallow training areas and significant depth for advanced divers.
