Dive Deep Blue by ABC Diving

Based in St. Paul's Bay, Dive Deep Blue by ABC Diving is a well-established PADI 5 Star IDC centre. Originally founded in 2020 as ABC Diving, the operation has grown significantly following the acquisition of a long-standing local centre, allowing them to occupy one of the largest diving facilities in Malta.

The centre is ideally positioned to serve as a base for exploring the diverse underwater topography of the Maltese islands. You have easy access to the historic wrecks, deep walls, and natural marine formations that make Malta a premier destination for both recreational and technical divers.

The instructional team is composed of highly experienced professionals, with every instructor holding a minimum qualification of PADI Master Scuba Diver Trainer. To ensure a safe and controlled learning environment, the centre maintains a strict ratio of no more than 4 divers per guide.

Each instructor brings a wealth of local knowledge to the water, with a minimum of 1000 dives completed in Maltese coastal waters. This expertise is central to their approach, focusing on building confidence and technical proficiency through personalised instruction.

As a PADI 5 Star IDC centre, the training range is extensive, catering to everyone from those taking their first breaths underwater to professionals. The curriculum covers the full PADI spectrum, including Open Water Diver, Advanced Open Water Diver, and Rescue Diver, as well as specialized courses like PADI Dry Suit Diver, PADI Underwater Navigator, and PADI Search & Recovery.

For those looking to advance their career or technical skills, the centre offers Divemaster and Instructor Development Courses (IDC). Technical training is also available, including PADI Tec 40 and Tec 45, along with Nitrox and Deep Diver certifications. They also provide specialised training such as the PADI Full Face Mask Diver course and PADI Digital Underwater Photographer.

The centre's dedicated training facility includes an on-site swimming pool, which is used for confined water sessions and skill development. This allows for a structured and efficient progression through PADI courses before heading into the open sea.

Onshore, the facility features a dedicated classroom for theory and briefings, alongside specialised areas for kit rinsing and secure equipment storage. Full rental kit is available for those who do not wish to bring their own, and the centre maintains a modern, well-serviced inventory of equipment.

The marine life around Malta is diverse, with many species congregating around the wrecks and reef walls. You will regularly encounter groupers, parrotfish, and various species of wrasse, alongside rays and octopus. The sandy areas and seagrass meadows are also home to hermit crabs and various sea cucumbers.

Macro life is abundant for those who take the time to look closely. Divers often spot nudibranchs, scorpionfish, and cuttlefish amongst the crevices of the reef. Moray eels and various species of triggerfish are also common residents of the rocky structures.

In the deeper sections and around the larger wrecks, you may encounter larger pelagics or more specialised reef inhabitants such as flying gurnard and Atlantic lizardfish. The abundance of life, from small salps to larger fish, makes every dive a unique encounter.
