Playadulce is a four-star seafront hotel in Aguadulce, built around gardens, outdoor space and the practical comforts of a large holiday property.

The mood is sociable rather than hideaway-quiet. Families have their own rooms, children have a kids’ club and entertainment programme, while adults can use the indoor pool and the Acquaplaya Spa Centre at the Playasol Spa Hotel in Roquetas de Mar. For a diving break, that gives you somewhere straightforward to return to: food, a drink, a swim and a bed, with the beach immediately outside.

You stay in Aguadulce, Spain, on Paseo del Palmeral, directly on the seafront. Aguadulce Beach is immediately across from the hotel, so getting from your room to the sand involves no expedition, no shuttle and very little footwear. Sun loungers and parasols are available by the beach area.

The setting also keeps everyday errands manageable. Bars and cafés are within roughly 0.1 to 0.3 miles, while nearby restaurants include El Espigón, Chiringuito de Diego and Restaurante Bodega Claudio. Almería is close enough for a change of scenery: the Alcazaba is about 6 miles away, and Almería Airport is about 10 miles from the hotel, with a driving journey of around 23 minutes.

The room choice matters here because the range is aimed at very different kinds of stay. A Single Room keeps things simple if you are travelling alone, while a standard Twin Room suits two divers who would rather have separate beds and spend their daylight hours elsewhere. The Twin Room with Sea View is the obvious choice when looking out towards the water matters more than having the room do anything clever.

Families have dedicated options, including family and themed rooms, with bunk-bed arrangements in the themed categories. Those are the rooms to consider when children are part of the trip; couples will probably prefer the Junior Suite or a sea-view option, particularly if the room is expected to carry more of the evening than a quick shower and an early night.

Selected rooms have a balcony or terrace and satellite TV. Air conditioning and heating are available seasonally, which is useful in a place where the room can be warm after a day in the sun and the sea. The practical point is to check the individual room description carefully: balconies, terraces and views are not presented as universal features.

The Andalucia restaurant covers the main rhythm of the day with breakfast, lunch and dinner. Breakfast is a buffet with show cooking, so you can make a proper start rather than trying to pass off a coffee as fuelling. There is also a baby corner with facilities for parents to use.

A bar and a pub provide the places for the drink afterwards, although neither is given a more specific style or speciality. This is a full-service hotel restaurant rather than a destination for a particular cuisine, so the appeal is convenience: you can eat on site after getting changed, without making another journey on tired legs. Gentlemen are required to wear long trousers in the restaurant.

Two pools give you a choice when the sea is not the plan. The outdoor pool comes with towels and sun loungers, while the indoor pool is heated. Gardens, a terrace and a solarium add places to sit out without having to commit to another activity, which is often the correct decision after a demanding day in the water.

If you still have energy to spend, there is tennis, table tennis, minigolf and a games room. Tennis and minigolf are available at an additional charge. Golfers have three courses nearby, including La Envía, and hiking is also available in the surrounding area.

The Acquaplaya Spa Centre offers a spa circuit and a range of treatments, but it is located at the Playasol Spa Hotel in Roquetas de Mar rather than inside Playadulce. Children have a kids’ club, a playground and a water park, while the hotel also runs entertainment for adults and children. In other words, you can make the stay as active or as gloriously uneventful as you like.

Check-in runs from 14:00 to 20:00, and check-out from 07:00 to 12:00. The reception is open around the clock, with luggage storage and currency exchange available, so arrival and departure need not become a logistical drama. Car hire can also be arranged through the hotel.

Wi-Fi is free throughout the hotel. Laundry, dry cleaning and ironing services are available, and there is a business centre for anyone who has not quite managed to leave work behind. Pets are accepted on request, and children of any age are welcome; cots can be requested for younger children, while extra beds are not available.

The hotel is in a busy, family-oriented resort setting rather than an isolated coastal outpost. Aguadulce Beach is the immediate outdoor option, with Almería’s historic centre and the Alcazaba around 6 miles away.
