Nomad Hotel - Xábia Port

You arrive at a small beachfront hotel in Jávea, with 14 rooms and the Bay of Jávea laid out from the sea-facing accommodation, the terrace and the rooftop. The mood is grown-up and coastal rather than resort-sized: somewhere to return to, shower, eat properly and watch the light change over the water without having to organise an expedition for every drink.

The hotel's website is available in English and Spanish, which makes the first practical questions easier to handle before you arrive. Families are welcome, couples have several sea-view rooms designed around two people, and the hotel also gives you a swimming pool, wellness treatments, yoga and a fitness room when the day needs something other than another excursion.

You are in Jávea, Spain, at Camí Casetes, 8-9, right on the waterfront. Platja de la Grava is only a few steps away, while Playa de Muntanyar is about 0.1 miles from the hotel. That puts you in the harbour area rather than in an isolated coastal compound: La Marina, La Quinta de Jávea and Ca María are all within a few yards, and several bars are within a short walk.

For a change of scenery on dry land, the Montgó Nature Reserve is about 0.5 miles away and Parque Natural del Montgó about 2.4 miles away. El Montgó itself is around 2.8 miles away. Jávea therefore works well if you want the sea close at hand but still expect a real town, nearby restaurants and access to the local landscape rather than a week spent circling the same pool.

Sea views, balconies and air conditioning are the basics that matter here. When your skin still feels warm with salt and sun, the air conditioning gives you a proper reset, while the balcony lets you decide whether the evening calls for fresh air or a closed room and a cold drink from the refrigerator. A kettle is also provided, along with a wardrobe, linen and a private bathroom with shower and hairdryer.

For two people, GYPSET with Sea View is the compact choice, while NOMAD with Sea View gives you more room to spread out. TERRA Jr Suite with Sea View is the more suite-like option for a couple. The larger BATONGA and TERRA rooms make more sense for a family or for two people who prefer not to negotiate every square foot of floor space with bags, clothes and holiday clutter.

The family-room options use two extra-large double beds, which is more useful than a sofa dressed up as sleeping arrangements. There are no extra beds, while cots are available for children aged up to two years on request. Every room has a sea view, but the important distinction is how much room you want around that view.

Terra is the main dining room, working across breakfast, lunch and dinner with Mediterranean cooking shaped by the Marina Alta and given small turns towards southern France and Italy. It is described as fine-casual dining, which is a useful phrase here: smart enough for an evening meal, relaxed enough not to require a change of personality after a day outside. Breakfast starts at 8:30 am and covers continental, vegetarian, gluten-free and buffet choices.

A la mar puts Mediterranean fusion almost at the edge of the sea, with Provençal flavours and a Belgian influence. Its service runs from Wednesday to Sunday, covering breakfast, lunch and dinner across the stated daytime hours. If you want tapas instead, Terra serves them from 1:00 pm to 10:00 pm, so the evening does not have to be organised around a formal three-course operation.

The Sky Bar opens from Wednesday to Sunday in the evening for cocktails and Spanish tapas, with views over Jávea Bay. The Rooftop Terrace adds live music and sunset drinks from Tuesday to Sunday. There is also an on-site coffee house, room service and packed lunches, while special-diet menus can be arranged. Two restaurants, two rooftop-facing evening options and a bar that actually has a name: enough choice for several nights without turning dinner into a tactical exercise.

The swimming pool comes with a view, and the sun terrace supplies the obvious post-dive plan: lie down, remain horizontal and let the day catch up with you. Sun loungers, beach chairs and umbrellas are available, so you can choose between the pool and the beach without treating either option as a major undertaking. Platja de la Grava is right outside, which is handy when the sea is more appealing than a hotel timetable.

Nomad Spa offers massages and holistic treatments drawing on Eastern and Western techniques, with references to kinesiology and shiatsu. That is the part of the hotel designed for muscles that have done more work than you intended. Yoga classes and a fitness room give you a gentler way to move, whether you want to stretch properly or simply avoid becoming permanently shaped like a deckchair.

You can also book bike tours or a tour about local culture, both based around getting beyond the hotel rather than adding another piece of furniture to the terrace. For a slower evening, the rooftop has live music, while the rooms include a flat-screen TV with a streaming service and free WiFi throughout the hotel.

Alicante–Elche Miguel Hernández Airport is 103 km away, or roughly 64 miles by road distance. Private parking is available nearby and needs to be reserved, so this is worth arranging before you arrive rather than assuming the car can be dealt with at the last minute. The hotel also has a lift, luggage storage, room service and free WiFi throughout the property.

Check-in runs from 3:00 pm to 10:30 pm and check-out from 8:30 am to noon. You need to provide photo identification and a payment card at check-in, and the hotel needs your expected arrival time in advance. Guests under 18 can check in only with a parent or official guardian; there is no age requirement for adult check-in.
