Hotel Rosamar Garden Resort is a four-star family resort built for easy days rather than complicated logistics. You have four swimming pools, a spa, a fitness centre, food on site and the beach close by, so a tired diver can return, eat, cool off and leave the rest of the day to take care of itself.

Families are clearly part of the picture, with family rooms, a children's pool, a kids' club, a playground and a water-park area. That does not mean adults are forgotten: one of the outdoor pools is reserved for guests over 18, while the Vitality Spa offers a more grown-up change of pace. English is among the languages used for the hotel's guest information, alongside Catalan, Spanish, French, German, Italian and Russian.

The useful character of the place is its range. You can have a lively resort day with slides, games and entertainment, or make for the adult pool, the spa or a sea-view terrace and keep things quieter. Girona-Costa Brava Airport is roughly 18 miles by road, while Barcelona El Prat is about 55 miles away. Blanes railway station is around 5 miles away by road.

The pool-view options make sense if watching the resort come alive is part of the appeal; a standard double room is the more straightforward choice when you mainly need a comfortable base between beach, meals and sleep. Family rooms are available, but the room cards show different arrangements, so check the selected category carefully rather than assuming every family option is laid out the same way.

Rooms include a private bathroom, towels, toiletries and a hairdryer, together with a wardrobe, clothes rack, flat-screen satellite TV and free Wi-Fi. Daily housekeeping keeps the practical side moving. There is also a drying rack for clothing, handy for swimwear and beach clothes. Windows, balconies and terraces open the room towards the resort or its surroundings, while air conditioning and heating cover the less glamorous but more important business of sleeping properly.

Three dining outlets give you more choice than a single buffet queue. The Restaurant Bufet Principal covers breakfast, lunch and dinner, with Mediterranean and international dishes, daily show cooking and an air-conditioned interior. Breakfast is served as a buffet, which is the sensible format when different people need to eat at different speeds before a busy morning.

Ferretti Sa Caleta moves the meal outdoors, with a terrace overlooking the sea and an Italian menu built around pizza and pasta. It also serves crêpes, artisan ice cream, coffees, cappuccinos, juices, slush drinks, frappés and shakes. This is the place for a less formal lunch or dinner when nobody wants to dress the evening up more than necessary.

Beside the pool, Ona Pool Snack Bar works as a bar-brewery with premium drinks, burgers, panini, salads, crêpes and ice cream. The buffet restaurant and poolside service cover the straightforward hungry moments; Ferretti gives you a change of scenery. Special-diet menus are available on request, and drinks are included in meal plans only when you choose the all-inclusive option.

Four pools divide the resort's leisure time rather neatly. The large outdoor pool is the main swimming space, while the shallow saltwater children's pool has slides. There is an outdoor saltwater pool reserved for guests over 18, useful when you want to sit somewhere without a soundtrack of excited negotiations over the next turn. An indoor saltwater pool is heated during the low season.

The Aquasplash area brings water slides and other attractions into the family side of the resort. The slides require a minimum height of 1.20 metres, while the River Boat and Pirate Ship have a maximum height of 1.50 metres. Sun terraces, loungers, parasols and garden areas give you places to dry off and stop moving for a while. That last facility is underrated after a demanding day outdoors.

For a more deliberate reset, the Vitality Spa has a sauna, hammam, sensation showers and thermal loungers, with massages and facial treatments available. The fitness centre has strength and toning equipment. Away from the pools, you can use the mini-golf, table-tennis table, multisport court, archery, darts or games room, while bicycles and excursions to Girona, Figueres, Montserrat and Barcelona add options beyond the resort. Evening entertainment, live music and themed dinners keep the day going for guests who still have energy in reserve.

Check-in starts from 14:00 and check-out is by 11:00. You need photo identification and a credit card at arrival, and the hotel asks you to provide your expected arrival time in advance.
