Hotel 525 suits divers who want a practical base with a bit of life around it rather than a sealed-off resort. You have the sea nearby, a shopping area outside the door, and enough inside the building to make the return from a long day straightforward: air conditioning, a minibar, room service, a spa and a fitness room.

The atmosphere is more town hotel than remote hideaway. Bars and restaurants are close, while the hotel itself adds a lobby bar, a snack bar and Bar Rojo for the evening. English and Spanish are the languages of the hotel website, so the property is set up to address both international and Spanish-speaking guests online.

You are in Los Alcázares, in Spain's Murcia region, at C/Calle Rio Borines 58. The hotel sits in a shopping area, which is useful when you want a drink or a meal without turning the evening into another expedition. The Square and Fresco Bistro Restaurant are just around the corner, with El Patio II also close by.

The coast is within roughly half a mile. Las Palmeras Beach, Los Narejos Beach and El Espejo Beach are all nearby, with El Espejo around a nine-minute walk away. Los Narejos is the beach singled out in the hotel's own description, while the sun terrace looks towards the Mar Menor.

For a change of scenery, Parque del Mar is about 5 miles away by road, and the Renfe station at Torre Pacheco is around 7 miles away by road. The Region of Murcia International Airport is the natural airport for this part of the coast; Alicante–Elche is the longer alternative.

The room choice is broad enough to match different diving trips without forcing everyone into the same arrangement. Travelling alone? There is a single-use option. For two people, the standard double or twin layout keeps things simple, while the Junior Suite and Suite give you more room to spread out after a day spent changing in and out of kit. The Queen Room with spa bath is the one to consider if the evening is meant to be more about recovery than logistics.

Every room has a private bathroom, balcony, air conditioning, minibar, television with satellite and cable channels, wardrobe and electric kettle. That covers the useful post-dive basics: cold water or a drink close at hand, a cooler room when the Spanish heat has done its work, and somewhere to sit outside without having to go downstairs. Hairdryers, towels, toiletries and either a bath or shower are included in the bathroom setup.

Soundproofing is listed among the room features, and the beds have been singled out for their comfort. Families are welcome, with family rooms available and cots for younger children on request. The practical catch is that extra beds are not available at the property, so check the sleeping arrangement carefully if your group does not fit a standard room layout.

Breakfast is served as a buffet, which is the sensible format when your morning depends on appetite rather than ceremony. For later in the day, the lobby bar and snack bar cover the quick drink or bite, while vending machines are available for snacks and drinks when the timetable has gone slightly off-piste.

Bar Rojo is the main named dining option. It serves dinner on a terrace from 17:30 to 23:30, with a modern and varied menu built around a broad choice of food and drink. That gives you an in-house evening meal without pretending the hotel is an all-inclusive operation.

The hotel is also surrounded by places to eat, from Fresco Bistro Restaurant just outside to El Patio II a short walk away. In other words, you can stay in for dinner, step out for something different, or keep the decision until the day has told you how hungry you are.

The outdoor pool is the obvious place for a gentle reset, with a sun terrace facing the Mar Menor. There is also an indoor pool, giving you a second option when the weather is less cooperative. The outdoor pool closes from 1 November to 28 February, and the solarium closes over the same winter period, so the calendar matters here.

The spa is the stronger reason to stay in after the beach. Sauna, steam room, hot tub and open-air bath are joined by massage, facial treatments, body scrubs, body wraps and mud baths. Manicure, pedicure, waxing and other beauty treatments are also available. Some treatments carry an additional charge, but the useful point is that the recovery menu goes beyond a token sauna in a corner.

There is a fitness centre with a machine room, open from 08:00 to 22:30, plus a sun terrace for doing very little at all. Bicycle rental, hiking and cycling are available, and a golf course lies within 3 miles. Families have a children's playground, a kids' club and babysitting, so a mixed group does not have to organise every hour around the divers.

Check-in runs from 15:00 to 23:30, and check-out is from 10:00 to 12:00. You need photo identification and a payment card at arrival. There is no age requirement for check-in, and children of any age are welcome; children aged three and above are charged as adults. Cots are available for younger children on request, subject to availability.

A covered car park is available at the hotel, but spaces cannot be reserved in advance and are subject to availability on arrival. That is worth keeping in mind if you are driving with several bags and a timetable that leaves little room for improvisation. Car hire is also available, and a tour desk can help with local plans.
