Albatros Diving

Albatros Diving has been a fixture of the Mallorca diving scene since 1993. Situated directly on the seafront, the centre provides immediate access to the Mediterranean and the diverse underwater topography of the island's eastern coastline.

As a PADI 5 Star centre and a recognized PADI Eco Center, the operation places a heavy emphasis on environmental stewardship and marine conservation. This commitment is integrated into their training and their relationship with organisations like Conservation Diver, making it a logical choice for divers interested in the ecological health of the Balearic seabed.

The team at Albatros Diving is multi-lingual, capable of conducting dives and training in English, German, French, Spanish, and Dutch. This ensures clear communication for international divers, whether you are working on a certification or participating in a guided exploration.

The centre operates with a focus on small groups to ensure a more personalised experience and better supervision. Their training programmes extend beyond standard certifications, incorporating ecological monitoring through the Conservation Diver Seagrass Ecology and Monitoring Program and the Ecological Monitoring Program.

A comprehensive range of PADI courses is available, catering to everyone from those starting with the PADI Scuba Diver or Open Water Diver courses to advanced divers pursuing the Advanced Open Water Diver or Rescue Diver certifications. Professional training is also available through the PADI Divemaster programme.

Specialised training is a core part of the curriculum, including PADI Peak Performance Buoyancy, PADI Underwater Navigation, and PADI Drift Diver. For those requiring specific cylinder volumes, the centre provides 10-litre and 12-litre cylinders for rent. They also offer tank refills for both 10-litre and 12-litre capacities.

The Mediterranean habitats around Cala Bona support a variety of larger species. You can often encounter Common dentex (Dentex dentex), Amberjack (Seriola), and various species of Grouper (Epinephelus) patrolling the rocky structures. Large pelagics such as Tuna (Thunnus), Great barracuda (Sphyraena barracuda), and Ocean sunfish (Mola mola) are also known to visit the area.

In the seagrass meadows and sandy patches, you will find common stingrays (Batoidea) and various species of Ray (Batoidea) resting on the bottom. Gilt-head bream (Sparus aurata), Salema porgy (Sarpa salpa), and Brown meagre (Sciaena umbra) are frequently seen cruising the reef edges.

Macro life and smaller inhabitants provide plenty of detail for observant divers. Look for Octopus (Octopus vulgaris) tucked into crevices, seahorses, and various Nudibranch (Chromodoris willani) species. You may also spot Conger eel (Congridae), Triggerfish (Balistidae), and various octopuses amongst the rocks.

The centre is seasonal, operating from 1st April to 31st October. Divers should be prepared for the typical Mediterranean conditions of the eastern Mallorca coast, which include varied topography ranging from shallow reefs to deeper walls.
