Mero Diving

Located in Cala Ratjada, Mallorca, Mero Diving has been a fixture of the local diving community since 1969. The centre is ideally positioned to access the diverse underwater landscapes of the Balearic Islands, operating within a protected marine reserve that ensures a high level of biodiversity.

Depending on your experience and preference, you can choose between shallower dives in the bay, typically ranging from 10 to 18 metres, or take a boat out to explore deeper rocky formations and caves reaching depths of up to 30 metres.

With over 55 years of experience, the team at Mero Diving brings a wealth of local knowledge to every excursion. The staff is multilingual, providing instruction and guidance in English, German, and Spanish to accommodate a wide range of divers.

Their training programmes are inclusive, offering courses for children from the age of 10 through to professional level certifications. The centre maintains a professional approach to instruction, ensuring that both beginners and advanced divers are well-supported in the water.

Mero Diving offers a comprehensive range of training, starting with the Open Water Diver course for those new to the sport. They also cater to younger divers with specialised programmes for children aged 10 and over.

For those looking to reach the deeper reefs and more varied topography, the centre offers boat-based diving. These trips include transfers as part of the deluxe package, allowing you to reach sites such as the rocky outcrops of Cap Freu or the deeper cavities of Großer Käse.

The centre provides equipment hire for those who do not wish to carry their own full kit. For all dives, a 10-litre compressed air cylinder, weights, and a guide are included. Dive insurance is also available to purchase on-site for daily, weekly, monthly, or annual durations.

The marine life in the area is diverse, with the rocky reefs and seagrass meadows providing ample cover for many species. You can regularly encounter octopus, cuttlefish, and various species of sea snails, alongside the occasional great barracuda.

For those interested in macro life and crustaceans, the crevices and seagrass beds are home to crabs and various molluscs. Spiny lobster can also be found in the area depending on the season.

The surrounding reefs and rocky structures are also frequented by larger fish, including grouper, moray eels, barracudas, and parrotfish, which move through the various passages and over the reef flat.

The best time to dive in this region is between May and October. During these months, the local marine reserve offers a variety of environments ranging from sheltered bays to deeper offshore reefs.
