SCUBANEO is situated in Alcudia, Mallorca, positioned between the bays of Pollensa and Alcudia. The centre is located just 100 metres from the Marina de Bonaire, making it a central hub for diving excursions around the Cap de Formentor and Cap de Pinar areas.

With over 30 years of experience in the region, the centre has established itself as a specialist in both recreational and technical diving. It serves as an SSI Instructor Training Centre and an official SSI XR centre, catering to a community that values precision, safety, and high-quality instruction.

The centre is led by Félix A. Spiess, an experienced instructor trainer with deep expertise in technical diving and rebreather operations. The professional team is multilingual, providing instruction and support in Spanish, English, and German.

Safety and small group sizes are central to the operation, with a maximum ratio of four divers per guide. This approach ensures that whether you are completing your first certification or training for professional levels, the instruction remains focused and personalised.

The training programme is comprehensive, covering the full spectrum of SSI certifications. Beginners can start with the Open Water Diver or Scuba Diver courses, progressing through Advanced Open Water Diver and Rescue Diver to the Divemaster level.

For those looking to specialise, the centre offers a vast array of courses including Nitrox, Deep Diver, Wreck, Navigation, Perfect Buoyancy, and even specialized training like Search & Recovery or Scooter / DPV Diving. The technical curriculum is particularly extensive, featuring XR Sidemount, XR Cavern Diving, and Full Cave Diving.

As an Instructor Training Centre, SCUBANEO also supports professional progression, offering courses from Assistant Instructor through to the full Instructor Training Course (ITC).

Diving trips are conducted from a fast motorboat equipped with a 225 CV engine. The vessel has a capacity for 9 divers and is designed to reach the various reefs, walls, and wrecks surrounding the caps.

On board, you will find a dedicated area for gearing up, a shaded zone to protect you from the sun, and a ladder to facilitate easy entries and exits. The boat is also equipped to support various dive profiles, including night dives, and carries Nitrox for use during your excursions.

The shore-based facilities include a two-storey building housing a reception, a classroom, and a retail area. Divers can make use of the changing rooms, bathrooms, and a spacious wet area equipped with showers to rinse off after a session.

For gas management, the centre uses a BAUER compressor. Full equipment hire is available for those not travelling with their own kit, with the centre acting as an official MARES collaborator, ensuring access to high-quality, modern equipment.

The Mediterranean waters here are home to a diverse range of life. On the rocky walls and reefs, you will frequently encounter moray eels, scorpionfish, and various species of grouper, alongside large barracuda and amberjack. You can also spot octopus, rays, and various types of sea bream and salema porgy.

Macro life enthusiasts can look for nudibranchs and various species of octopus tucked into the crevices. The seafloor and rock faces are also inhabited by many smaller creatures, including damselfish, needlefish, and various species of wrasse.

Seasonal visitors add variety to the underwater landscape. From late spring, you may see cuttlefish, rays, and amberjack appearing in the area.

The unique geography of the Alcudia and Pollensa bays provides a degree of protection from the elements. The presence of the two Caps allows for diving in various weather conditions, as the bays offer sheltered environments compared to the open sea.

Local currents and swell can vary depending on the specific site and the prevailing weather, but the variety of locations—from protected coves to open walls—allows for a wide range of diving experiences.
