The rooms were refurbished in 2024 and include air conditioning, a ceiling fan, a flat-screen or Smart TV, a wardrobe and a private bathroom with shower, towels, toiletries and a hairdryer. Some rooms have balconies with sea views, subject to availability. Pay attention to the room details before booking: the double and triple rooms are on the top floor and have sloping ceilings. A lift serves the upper floors, and the hotel also provides heating for cooler evenings.

Breakfast is available on request in the hotel café. There is no hotel restaurant or bar to plan your evening around, so dinner means stepping out into Somo rather than waiting for a service to appear downstairs. That is not a problem here: several restaurants and bars sit within a short walk of the entrance.

Rompeolas Somo is the closest named restaurant, while Hosteria de Somo and Irons Grill-Burger are also nearby. For coffee or a drink, Surf Café Somo, Bar Sol y Mar and Bar Old Fort give you local options close to the hotel. After a day in the water, the practical advantage is simple: you can choose between a quick walk and a quiet return to the lounge, rather than turning dinner into another expedition.

The hotel keeps its non-diving downtime uncomplicated. An outdoor seating area, sun terrace and shared lounge give you places to sit when you want to read, talk through the day's plans or do absolutely nothing, which is an underrated activity after enough time in a wetsuit. There is also luggage storage and a tour desk for keeping the next outing organised.

The beach is where most of the action happens. Kayaking, paddleboarding, windsurfing, surfing, swimming and beach volleyball are available nearby, giving couples or mixed-activity groups plenty to do without needing a full-day excursion. Golf is available within about 2 miles, and hiking and cultural trips can take you towards Santander, Parque de Cabárceno and Parque Natural de Oyambre.

For a slower day, Santander offers Centro Botín, Plaza Pombo, the Museum of Prehistory and Archaeology of Cantabria and the MAS Santander and Cantabria Museum of Modern and Contemporary Art. Parque de la Magdalena and La Magdalena Palace are also around 1.5 to 1.8 miles away.

Check-in runs from 14:00 to 22:00, and check-out is from 08:00 to 12:00. You need photo identification and a payment card at check-in, and the hotel asks you to give your expected arrival time in advance. The minimum check-in age is 18, children are not allowed, and pets are not allowed.

Private parking is available on site, although spaces cannot be reserved. Free WiFi covers all areas, and the hotel also has a lift, luggage storage, a tour desk and private check-in and check-out.
