M.E. First Class Divers

First Class Divers is a PADI affiliated centre based in Porto Petro, Mallorca. Situated at the Iberostar Club Cala Barca, the centre provides a gateway to the varied underwater landscapes that define the eastern coast of the Balearic Islands.

The local waters offer a significant diversity of environments. You can choose between sheltered bays for training, expansive seagrass meadows, and more advanced sites featuring impressive rock walls and wrecks further out from the shore.

The centre operates with a focus on professional instruction, catering to a wide range of experience levels. The team is multilingual, with staff capable of providing guidance in both English and German.

Training is structured to accommodate different learning styles, utilising PADI eLearning to allow students to complete their theoretical work at their own pace before starting practical sessions in the water.

The course catalogue is extensive, covering the full spectrum of PADI certifications. Beginners can start with Discover Scuba Diving or the Bubblemaker programme, progressing through to Open Water Diver and Advanced Open Water Diver.

For those looking to advance their technical or professional skills, the centre offers PADI Rescue Diver, Divemaster, and Deep Diver courses. They also provide EFR (Emergency First Response) and Emergency Oxygen Provider training. Specialized training such as Search and Recovery Diver is also available.

For those not travelling with their own kit, the centre offers full equipment hire, including regulators, BCDs, and fins. Wetsuits are also available for rent.

The centre is set up to support both training and exploration, with all necessary equipment required for the local dive sites provided on-site.

The local marine life is diverse, with many species inhabiting the various reefs and seagrass meadows. You will frequently encounter wrasses, goatfish, gobies, and moray eels moving through the terrain. Larger fish such as bass and barracuda are also part of the regular ecosystem.

Macro life enthusiasts can find plenty to observe amongst the rocks and vegetation, including various species of octopus, seahorses, and different types of sea slugs. The presence of sea urchins and starfish adds further detail to the seabed.

The habitat is rich with fixed life, including various sponges and anemones that provide cover for smaller inhabitants. The Posidonia meadows offer a vital nursery and feeding ground for many of the local species.

The best period for diving in this area is between May and October. During these months, the water temperature typically ranges between 14°C and 28°C.
