Blue Aqua Diving Center

Blue Aqua Diving Center is a German and English-speaking dive base situated in Safaga, Egypt, within the Sun Beach Hotel Abo Soma. The centre was established in 2024 and has undergone recent renovations to ensure modern facilities for all divers. Its location provides easy access to the Red Sea's most iconic reefs and wrecks, with the airport at Hurghada just a 40-minute drive away.

The base is designed for efficiency, featuring a 900 m² facility that includes dedicated equipment storage, drying areas, and separate changing rooms. Whether you are looking to complete your first Open Water Diver course or you are an experienced diver seeking a drift dive, the centre's layout and professional organisation cater to a wide range of experience levels.

The centre is managed by Selina and Mustafa, leading a professional and multilingual team. Instruction is available in German, English, and Arabic, ensuring clear communication during briefings and training sessions. The team is known for a friendly, family-oriented atmosphere that maintains high professional standards.

Training is conducted in two air-conditioned classrooms, providing a comfortable environment for the theoretical components of your courses. The staff is experienced in handling everything from beginner Discover Scuba Diving programmes to advanced specialties and Divemaster training.

Blue Aqua Diving Center provides a full spectrum of certifications through both SSI and PADI. Beginners can start with the Open Water Diver or the SSI Scuba Diver course, while those looking to progress can work towards their Advanced Open Water Diver, Rescue Diver, and Divemaster qualifications.

Specialty courses are extensive, covering technical and skill-based disciplines such as Nitrox (up to 40%), Deep Diver, Wreck, Navigation, and Drift Diving. For divers looking to refine their movement, the centre offers Perfect Buoyancy and Scuba Skills Update courses. They also cater to those interested in niche skills like Recreational Sidemount Diver, Digital Underwater Photography, and the Science of Diving.

The centre operates excursions from a small jetty located directly at the base. Day trips typically consist of two dives and cover a variety of sites around the Safaga area, including famous reefs and wreck locations. Meals are provided on board during full-day trips, and the team ensures a well-organised departure and return.

The shore-based facilities are comprehensive, featuring Bauer compressors that fill aluminium cylinders in volumes of 6, 10, 12, and 15 litres. For those who prefer to use their own equipment, there is a large, secure room for storage. The centre also provides multiple basins for rinsing kit, as well as outdoor showers and changing rooms.

Full rental kit is available through Aqualung, covering adults and children. This includes BCDs, regulators, wetsuits, fins, masks, snorkels, computers, torches, and compasses. For those looking to dive more technically, sidemount cylinders are also available.

The house reef, accessible via a jetty or the shallow sandy beach, is an ideal spot for spotting marine life such as turtles, moray eels, seahorses, and various rays. You may also encounter octopus, scorpionfish, and different species of reef fish in the coral structures.

In the wider Safaga area, the reefs are home to larger pelagics and schooling fish. You can look for Eagle ray (Aetobatus), whitetip sharks, and Grey reef shark (Carcharhinus amblyrhynchos). Large fish and Tuna (Thunnus) are also part of the local ecosystem.

Macro life enthusiasts can find plenty to observe, including octopus and various scorpionfish tucked into the reef. The colourful landscape is built upon a foundation of stony corals, Soft coral (Alcyonacea), and large Sea fan (Gorgoniidae) structures, alongside various Sea anemone (Actiniaria).

The area is known for various dive types, including drift dives at sites like Ras Abu Soma and Gamul Soraya. Divers should be prepared for varying current conditions depending on the specific site and the direction of the drift.

For those with less than 25 dives or those without an Advanced certification, a guide is required for safety during excursions. The centre also offers decompression chamber insurance through Deco International for added peace of mind.
