The reefs around Safaga are home to a vibrant array of schooling reef fish, including various species of Anthias (Anthias), Butterflyfish (Chaetodon), and snappers. You will often find larger inhabitants such as Great barracuda (Sphyraena barracuda), Tuna (Thunnus), and various sea breams moving through the water column.

For those looking for larger pelagics, the area supports Grey reef shark (Carcharhinus amblyrhynchos), Whitetip reef shark (Triaenodon obesus), and Eagle ray (Aetobatus). You may also encounter turtles (Cheloniidae), blue-spotted rays, and various species of Shark (Selachimorpha) patrolling the deeper sections of the reef.
